If the moon is really 238,900 miles away in "space" then why did this chemtrail jet have to fly around it?

The moon actually bends the light because of its gravity, so what might look like a curved line is actually a straight line!

How do I actually take advantage of all my free time and make myself work hard? For the past year it seems my main hobby is to borrow my mum's car, browse 4chan on my phone, drink tonnes of coffee and do very little work.

It just seems so fucking unbearable to imagine that I am literally paddling in the middle of an ocean of possibilities and reaching any shore will take hours and hours of painstaking paddling. And there's fog everywhere and I'm on my own.

I just feel so cucked no matter what I do. I studied applied maths today because I feel like a cuck for not knowing enough and while doing it I felt like a cuck for not doing something that would immediately lead to money. I feel cucked for sitting at home and I feel cucked being in busy places near Chad and Stacey couples.

I have never done anything outside of a structured environment. I always just follow the path given to me (though I barely did any work near the end of my degree, which was kind of freethinking of me, though mainly due to laziness). I have no patience. Everything seems either too trivial to bother with or immensely frustrating and beyond me.

What is there to do these days? It's either software or finance you are a peon. I am not ignorant. I look at who the successful famous people are. It's the same every time. Either software stuff or VC / hedge fund stuff. That's it.

I just can't be assed. I am lazy. I walked in to the computer science section of a library and saw ten trillion gigantic introductory text books, all for important topics.

People are always out to attack you if you haven't watched that movie or read that book or seen that play. It's all psychological warfare. Starbucks, Coca Cola, McDonalds, these are the most honest organisations in the world today, far ahead of all the universities. They sell you the products and you can judge them how you want and you have no further pressures. Universities are a caste branding system subsidised by the government.

Does consuming semen provides any health benefits? If so, do they apply to both genders?

I'd rather be concerned of possible contagious diseases.

you already got your answer in the first post, most likely quasar to be precise. Also how retarded you have to be to think any artificial construct or process could send so strong radio emissions?

EE student here. I'm doing an exchange semester and get to choose between National uni of Singapore and Tsinghua. What would you choose and why? I know NUS is better ranked but China seems promising for future work.

No, but they will send me a list of courses in english, most of them on graduate level. It will be tricky to put them together but it's totally doable.

How orthodox is Constructivist mathematics in modern academia?

I don't know a lot about mathematics, but I'm studying Kant right now and his proposition that mathematics is synthetic a priori has piqued my interest in the foundations of mathematics; I wanted to hear some thoughts from /sci/ on the matter.

>Constructivist mathematics
Tl; dr for brainlets?
Like example of something invalid in constructive mathematics.
>>
>>8582635
Well, like I said in the post, my mathematical acumen isn't very developed. From my understanding, intuitionists/constructivists reject the law of the excluded middle i.e. either a proposition is true or its negation is true, and replace this with a sort of 'burden of proof,' where truth must be demonstrated or 'constructed' by providing a method for the creation of the mathematical object. It effectively rejects all truths but constructed proofs in mathematics, hence its notoriety.

If I've misrepresented it, feel free to correct me anyone.
>>
>>8582635
I'm not OP, but in constructivist mathematics you have a slightly weaker logic so you can think of it as a generalization of classical mathematics (like how rectangles are a generalization of squares).

The core difference is that in classical logic you always have double negation in the sense that if "not not P" is a true sentence in classical logic then "P"is a true sentence in classical logic. In constructive logic you do not have this in general (this doesn't mean that P is false, in fact there are times when double negation will hold for a specific sentence and times when it will not). Sometimes this core difference is described in terms of the excluded middle, the two ways are equivalent.

A side effect of this is that some axioms are so strong that they imply double negation for a specific theory and so it doesn't typically make sense to talk about them in the context of constructive mathematics. This includes the axiom of choice for instance.

Another side effect is that you are forced to distinguish between two different forms of proof by contradiction:
>Suppose P is true, reach a contradiction, conclude not P is true.
>Suppose not P is true, reach a contradiction, conclude [not not P is true and therefore] P is true.
The second form here is not valid under constructive logic.

If you think about it really hard we never actually prove a sentence is false in classical logic, instead we only prove that the negation of true. In constructive logic we emphasize this by ensuring that any proof for a statement is a direct proof and not the result of a bunch of double negations.

The path of a LASER beam is visible even when there is not many contaminants in the air. The path of natural light is only visible when there is a large number of contaminants in the air. Is this because a LASER beam has "more light" or more photons inside due to the gain medium? Is that why the path of a LASER beam is more visible?

"Work Like HELL!" ~ Elon Musk [Official]
you can make anything do the math Stewart needs about 90 ~ 140 hours to be finished completely with problems so if you put 15 ~ 20 hours daily you can nearly complete the whole book with solving the whole exercises/problems
after all it's doable but IT'S DEPENDS ON YOU

NOT ALL PEOPLE ARE HARD WORKERS
>>
>>8582331
Doing only the odd exercises should be faster then

Let's work.
>>
Yes, this is possible if you do this and nothing else. Pretty much the life of a math undergrad who plans on doing well anyway. Wouldn't agree that multivariable is taught in first year, and most schools don't teach ODEs till second year, because most kids are fucking brainlets.

Is it worth it spending 4 years studying physics in university? What are the major cons and pros?
46 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>8581918
It's easier to make bucks as an engineer.
If you're smart and driven, you won't regret it though.
>>
>>8581918
Pro: It's very challenging, and highly respected
Con: It's very challenging, and respect isn't the same as a job

There's a lot of faggots on this board who like to shit on physics (I think recent polls showed 14% of the board study physics, and majority study engineering), but as a physics graduate I feel like my degree has put me in a really good position for work. The only cases I know of where physics graduates are unable to get jobs is where they're too autistic to succeed at interview.
It's easier to get work if your degree leads directly to a certain kind of career (Engineering -> Engineer, CS -> software developer/engineer, etc...), but there's nothing that stops you getting the same work if you try hard enough because physics is right in the middle of all these different STEM subjects.
If you're prepared to get a masters degree to specialise in something, or get a new skillset, this is where your physics background will really shine to employers (e.g. physics undergrad and stats/data science/ML postgrad is a fantastic combination). You shouldn't find many subjects to be a challenge at masters level, either.
Basically, if you're interested in studying physics, you should study physics. As long as you're studying a STEM subject, it honestly doesn't really matter what you study; your degree is gonna have a lot of value.
>>
>>8581918
Every non-meme STEM degree is worth studying 4 years. Heck, even 8 years. Who the fuck cares.

Pros:
>A better understanding of the universe than engineers and everyone below them

Cons:
>A worse understanding of the universe than mathematicians

Why even bother with real analysis or abstract algebra? That shit makes zero sense I don't care what anyone says, there's no fucking pattern to solving any of those damn problems. I've watched countless YouTube videos trying to understand analysis and it just seems more pointless every single damn time. Calculus and linear algebra make complete fucking sense, why not analysis and abstract algebra??? Literally I mean it's just a bunch of fucking variables and symbols being written down with no fucking logic whatsoever. Why can't it be step by step just like calculus?!?!!?

why do they ignore the irrationality when they teach it.
