Unrelated but I'm trying to start a funk band called The Infinite Badness. Got the idea from Rick James and this album
I can't think of an album thematically related to r9k, is this thread just for individual robot's favourite albums?
I loved this last year - iamamiwhoami - Blue.
Here's one track:

I get goosebumps at about 56 seconds. It's more enjoyable with the videos but the music is good in itself.

Honestly, I think these are such canned examples for what constitutes "robot music". If Smashing Pumpkins is robot music then putting a hat on a dog is comedy. Not like this place isn't largely 16 year old Chad summerfags at this point.
If you want some actually decrepid, harsh music then look here. It's a blight, it's unpleasant to listen to, it's legitimately sad and challenging and it takes a small piece out of me every time I listen to it. And not just for the sake of it either, it's a legitimately nuanced album that pulls emotions out of a borderline unlistenable blight of music.

I'm not telling you not to have my opinion, I just think you're mindlessly iterating an album that you like that falls under the umbrella of being emotional.
Note the term "canned", if that album really appeals to your emotional introspective side then that's it but it kinda looks like an Askreddit post where someone asks "What's your favourite underrated album" and they say "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel". Everyone and their grandmother is a fan of that Weezer album.
Posting legitimately rough and challenging music while I'm at it.

I do browse /mu/ and I fucking hate it.
The people there are elitist but have none of the intelligence to back it up, just being elitist because their brand of whiteboyism is slightly more obscure than another brand of whiteboyism that was popular last week.
I'm neither. I canned the things people posted because it seems like they posted it without thinking, unless every single person just really thought generic mid 2000s grungerock really appealed to their emotional side.
Here's some /mu/core that is genuinely raw.
>>39423889
You're just against anything popular.
You probably take that commie idiot Scaruffi's opinion seriously.
Get bent.

Is Haus der Luge (Einsturzende Neubauten) robot enough or are you going to bully me?
Recently started to enjoy this one a lot. Generally more of a Future Days kind of guy.
>>39423722
>it's unpleasant to listen to
Kek, you listen to music you don't like the sound of just so you can remain an elitist /mu/fag?
>>39424045
I'm against things that are popular in unendearing ways.
Not that that's even the case. Those albums aren't bad, they just aren't albums for social deviants. Because everyone under the sun likes and celebrates them for surface-level reasons.
>>39424053
No idea what that is. But it looks German and I don't mean that in a good way.
>>39424071
The idea is that it takes unappealing musical ideas and turns them into something redeeming. Ever heard of profundity, bird brain?
>>39422313
>>39423670
I'm going to drop this with the other two. I own all three complete albums digitally on iTunes AMA originally
>>39424098
It doesn't matter how "profound" music is if it sounds like audible garbage.
More /mu/core (borderline normie-core) that is genuinely special
Just listen to this song all the way through, it'll be enough to draw you in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysqRwPfR5bs
>>39424098
>The idea is that some autist makes awful music and I'm gonna jerk my brain off and find some cliched "intellectual" excuse for its shortcomings until I like it
Kek, musical elitists are a special kind of retard.
>>39424126
Yeah that's why Jackson Pollock paintings are lazy garbage and no one ever looked at him twice
>>39424141
Congradulations for inventing an imaginary argument and then knocking it down.
>>39424161
Pollock was literally funded by the CIA in order to make it appear that American art was so beyond the USSR's that it seemed incomprehensible to them. People who "get it" are the greatest example of culture elitists smelling their own farts.
>>39424195
It's a raw display of human emotion. Too nondescript to possibly be special or communicate anything, but it accomplishes something. That's the idea of obtuse art in a nutshell.
The point is you're an utter buffoon if you take a look at music that's purpose is to be hard to listen to but redeeming in some way and think there's inherently nothing to it becuase "it sounds bad". That's like looking at minimalist art and saying "this sucks, it's just a bunch of shapes"
>>39424195
Cool orhinghinahl story bro
>>39424235
It accomplishes nothing. The point of art, including music and paintings, is to create something that you can enjoy in and of itself. Elitists like you act like art itself is what's special, so you should change what you enjoy to better accommodate it.
>>39424270
>The point of art, including music and paintings, is to create something that you can enjoy in and of itself.
Yes, and my retort is that people don't enjoy it. I said that they didn't consider what actually struck an emotional chord with them and they just posted a vaguely relevent album they like
Unless generic mid 2000s grunge rock is really what strikes an emotional chord with them, they just echoed canned responses
>>39424296
My first reply in this thread was to you. I don't care if you, the people you replied to, or anyone else has shitty taste in music. My point is that you're being an elitist snob who listens to music he knows sounds bad and that I'm sure the anons who posted 2000s grunge music get a hell of a lot more enjoyment from what they listen to than you do.
>>39424319
>or anyone else has shitty taste in music.
Dipstick, read the previous post. I'm not saying it again.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the beholders are just spitting out inane responses and not really considering what genuinely means something special to them.
>My point is that you're being an elitist snob
Elitist doesn't mean "saying bad things about other things", but that's not even what I'm doing
>who listens to music he knows sounds bad
It sounds bad but in an interesting way it takes this and makes it redeeming. Making it "sound good" to put it bluntly
>>39424364
>it's so bad it's good
I fucking hate people who do this with tv/movies, now I have to hate people who do it with music. I didn't even know you fucks existed.
>>39424378
If Jackson Pollock confuses you then I think superhero movies where big muscly men throw dumptrucks at eachother might be more your speed anyways
>>39424395
It doesn't confuse me at all. He got paid by the CIA to throw paint at random onto a canvass. Just Google it, modern art is literally a meme created by the government.
Keep the thread going guys, I don't want to de-rail it

Introspective in the most surface level way. This is what Chad in his white Oakleys listens to when he thinks he feels down.

Eh I just use "gucci" interchangeable between "good" and "okay". Don't take it too literally.
