Intermittent fasting, it helped me lose a bunch of weight, but only when I combined it with lifting and caloric deficit. They don't have to be done in concert.

Starving yourself really doesn't do it. You should just eat healthier food with less calories and aim to lose it slowly.
Starving yourself leads to organ damage, you have to eat less and exercise more.
Also no soda, at most once a week.
I lost a lot of weight going to Japan, where I was eating once a day - being vegetarian and poor - and walking 6 hours a day

closest thing I've done is a week long very low calorie vegetable soup diet ~300-400 kcal a day, it sucked super ass. From day 3 and on you felt like a zombie with fever.

From what I've gathered if you can get by the first few days of suck it'll ease up and be better than the "half-starvation" nonsense I tried.
