There's different kinds of venues. I have one that I like I my city that has fantastic techno evenings. I started going because I like the music. It's not that crowded and you can just vibe to the music in the dark and smoke a spliff. Damn I really should go out more.

you go because there's something special about being surrounded by hundreds all celebrating the same thing (good music). there's something indescribable/transcendent/spiritual about the combination of EDM, dancing and a light show. im not referring to woo-woo bullshit, but instead just the overwhelming feelings you get in the moment

dont go to these things with some pretentious attitude. go with the desire to have a good time. drugs dont hurt either.

went to the club one night with my pal because they're open later than the pubs, the drinks were pretty cheap too, despite not liking the music it wasn't half bad to be fair, spent most of the night taking the piss out of normies and striking up conversations with folks in the smoking area

Recently went to Spain and befriended this crazy Spanish dude. Fast forward and I'm doing 90% coke in the fucking street with him and heading to a techno club. Honestly wouldn't have been able to cope if I was sober. I imagine most club goers are either drunk or taking ecstasy/MDMA/MD etc. That music just sends you into a trance and all you feel is the beat.
There were moments where I thought "Wtf am I doing?" but I realised that I probably wouldn't go to a club again for a long time so I just tried to enjoy it.
Also: Coke makes you feel alpha as fuck. It's retarded but it does.
