It really depends who you are, your social skills, and what they're getting paid to shill. Doctor won't risk his ass over nothing.

I have a friend who's a total shithead (26, never worked, criminal record, etc.) but he's good looking and well-spoken with nice skin, looks like a fluffy white-collar middle class white guy. Got a medical marijuana prescription (in a state where weed is illegal) after about 4 months of effort and 3 doctor's visits, got Xanax and Valium rx's, he got a ton of fucking shit

Meanwhile, if you're misfortunate enough to have acne scars and bad skin and look like a drug addict (even if you aren't), even if you've been working part-time since 18 and have a bachelor's degree, good luck. Unless you actually fucking really need the drug.
