Because the tone-deaf monkeys that master the recordings just compress everything until the waveform looks like a literal wall so that they can pull up the overall volume of the recording without (intrusive) clipping, assuming their customers are too stupid to turn the volume knob to the right and going for "hier volum den bompetitiom :D".
