Welcome to the rest of your miserable life after high school.
This isnt that bad of a thought once you embrace the fact that pain is unavoidable in life. Even if you werent to give in to a wagecuck lifestyle, the only alternative would be a neet lifestyle and thats pretty painful in its own way too.
>>38965841
I remember being in high school and seeing people I knew a few years older than me doing apprenticeships for like construction and shit and it knocked the wind out of me.
Now that high school is over and I'm a NEET it would actually be a great success to be doing that. NEETs aren't qualified to clean toilets.
>>38965841
Besides the fact that they have to shit in dirty port-o-pottys and that a lot of them are delusional failed normie retards, people who work construction are actually quite happy.
>tfw office worker
should it feel good that i don't have to work hard or feel bad since its not as manly as being a blue collar worker ?
>>38966101
feel bad that in a decade or two you're going to have a ballooning gut and a goblin posture from sitting all day at work and then sitting all night at home & never exercising.
But becoming an Electrician was the best thing that ever happened to me OP

I like manual labor but the type of people who work those jobs are giant assholes

Construction work isn't that bad. You get to hang out with other dudes all day cracking jokes and the pay is decent once you're competent, and women respect a construction worker.

>>38967707
>You get to hang out with other dudes all day cracking jokes
No joke, I can crack some pretty /pol/-tier jokes on-site and still not come off as "that racist guy" because everyone else is making them, usually more than me. Even minorities take friendly racebaiting, if a Mexican guy throws some joke about my truck being a white dude truck he's going to laugh when I come right back with a "25 Mexicans in a minivan" joke.
>>38967854
You might try taking some classes at a community college while working part-time (or even fulltime if you want/need, whatever works). CC is way slower-paced and beginner-friendly, tradeschools from what I hear/have experienced can be way faster-paced and set up for people who already know half the shit they're "learning," they just need to check a box on a piece of paper. The people I know who went to trade school to be mechanics were already very experienced recreational mechanics, sparkie school was filled with people who had years of experience in various trades, etc. (I had one guy in my class who was really smart and good at his job, was a welder for years, but he wanted to be an electrician instead so he was going through tradeschool. Really smart and skilled, socially came across as a real neat/interesting guy, was married, but I guess he'd somehow gotten through school without learning math or something. He wasn't retarded, was FUCKING A WHITE MALE so not an uneducated illegal or anything, the man just couldn't add three and five to save his life. Could weld/wire whatever you gave him in his sleep, so long as all the math was already done.)
>>38965841
>tfw went to university after highschool because I knew I wanted to do something more than manual labor
>spent 5 grueling years getting an electrical engineering degree alongside a part time job helping my dad with renovations
>Graduate with an average gpa, a bunch of volunteering/club involvement, leadership roles in said clubs, etc
>18 months after graduating, the only job offer I've gotten was an assembler position at $12/hr with the "possibility" of "moving up" as a technician
>Applied to well over 500 jobs that I fully qualified for, even more if you count the ones I applied to without looking at the job description

Did you have any internships? Also maybe you need to take a better look at your resume.
>>38968079
Do internships/coop. Network as much as possible. Become friends with your profs so you can land some research positions. Make as many friends in your classes as possible because you never know who they know.
>>38968169
No I didn't do internships because it was never emphasized to me. Everyone I talked to said to make sure I'm involved in extracurricular activities, hence all my club involvement.
I've revised my resume quite a few times and had it looked over by career services at my university.
I'm not getting looked at because I don't have experience. No one wants a fresh grad regardless of what abilities he may have.
>>38967854
holy shit same. after dropping out of trade school i basically gave up on all education and i work in a factory now with literal ex-convicts, refugees and people with an IQ of 80. this is the rest of my life now.
>>38968227
It may be rough now but look for an internship. They will pay about $12 maybe more which is shit yes but you will receive experience and if you do a good job you can use your managers/coworkers as references. A year and a half after graduating though is rough, hope you don't have too much in loans.
>>38968281
I tried looking for internships, they all require you to be in school. Talked to some HR people and they all said there's legal issues regarding hiring people for internships when they aren't in school.
I will literally work for free at this point if it means getting the experience I need to even get looked at, but it's like being a new grad is like a disease that makes you completely undesirable for work.
>loans
All got paid off right after I graduated from the money I saved working part time.
I couldn't take it anymore and quit my job 2 months away from replacing my retiring supervisor. I would have had an easy $40k/yr job and a good resume right now, but instead chose the psychotic depression NEET life. Now I have a shit resume and am too anxious to even look at job ads. I WAS SO STUPID!
>>38965841
Between working in an office all day, or working with my hands building something, I'd rather do the construction job. Manual labor is that bad once your body acclimates to regular physical work.

I was working through a temp agency getting paid 13 bucks an hour to install solar panels, for a while last year. On a going-wage worksite it would be closer to 45/h. Wages are all over the place, even for the same job.
>>38968715
They sensed I was desperate and took advantage of it entirely. I did the whole "try me out for a month no pay" shit and they pulled a real fast one on me. When I asked if I could move up as an engineer, they gave me "well it's entirely possible, but it usually doesn't happen. Though you could move up to a technician role in 6 months to a year from now".
>>38969260
Did you quit? I'd have Quit there. Fuck kikes who do that
>>38969329
It was merely a job offer. I was very close to cussing them out right then and there, but I told them I'd think about it and left. After about 3 weeks of them practically harassing me with messages, I dropped them a message that I felt I'm overqualified for the position and won't be taking the offer unless there is an engineering role up for grabs.
Needless to say, I never heard back from them again.

Use proper lifting techniques (lift with legs, not back), work safe at heights, be smart about particles in the air and quit any company that tries to make you work in unhealthy environments (which is illegal anyway, and if they threaten to not pay you or anything you can throw it right back at them and threaten to report them to OSHA) you'll be fine. Just be smart, be aware of your surroundings, and if something seems dangerous ask the supe and do your own research if you don't believe the supe.
The best part of construction work (Electrician side of it) is I can quit any time I want and get on NEETBUX as long as I wish.
I just hate feeling like a slave at times but being paid 32 bucks an hour.

It doesn't sound discriminatory if the company does a lot of dealing with China, as many companies do (although hopefully that number will shrink in the Trump era.)
It doesn't make much sense to hire an engineer who needs another engineer to translate all the sidenotes for him (since normie Feelings Studies majors don't understand STEMspeak).

Used car inventory manager at a chevy dealership. I would use an 80's DOS blue screen to make all the service tickets to get the cars reconditioned, get the recalls done, easy stuff like that. My old supervisor was there for 32 years so it couldn't have been that bad.
I impulsively put 2 weeks in on a friday, without having anything lined up, because I just couldn't stand the anxiety, boredom and dread of working there anymore. My friend who worked at a best buy likely had similar feelings and ended his life. That's what I was thinking.
Why didn't I take the weekend to think it over!?! One column: ZERO DOLLARS, suicidal thoughts by day 3 of unemployment, shit resume, isolation, extreme mental & physical health nosedive Another column: $40k, easy job, good springboard resume, some people to talk to regularly who like me, light boredom, buy a cool new car or apartment

I have no idea why I was so fucking terrible at soldering. It would nicely form at the point but would always fail the leak tests. I also couldn't grasp using measurements involving the inside of fittings. As for the blueprints, I'm just a retard because I for the life of me cannot understand most drawn 3D diagrams let alone draw them.
I wouldn't call myself stupid because I was one of the only students who doing well in the general math class and the retarded as fuck GED class. However, I absolutely take a lot of the blame for failing out, but I do also blame the program as well. It was the first time they ever ran a pre-apprenticeship program and it clearly showed. The teachers there just kinda assumed that we knew all the terminology they were talking about despite it being a program for people who were just jumping into plumbing for the first time.
I absolutely underestimated trade schools. I thought anyone could pass it since most high school dropouts can. Turns out I'm just shit at it.

America's economy will be dwarfed by China in 50 years. It's already becoming internationally irrelevant since Chinese have greater buying power.
You can choose to study another language to compete on the global stage like the whole world has been doing for the past 100 years, or you can keep screaming "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" while your whole country becomes a new rust belt.

Kek, the economy only affects us small guys (i.e., not CEOs dealing in international business and investments) on a per-capita level. China's economy could be five times what burger's is, and its people would still be poorer.
Even per capita wealth isn't that simple, you have to break it down into class distribution. A nation of 1,000 (for ease of computation) that generates $1,000,000-per-capita a year is still a poor nation if 99.9% of that never leaves one man's wallet. As historically has generally been the case in China.
If anything, hoping that America stops outsourcing manufacturing labor and white-collar jobs - fields which once gave rise to powerful unions that helped make America into a great place for the common man - WILL reverse that trend, no matter how big China gets.
I don't give a flying fuck how much bigger/smaller America's GDP gets, so long as its per-capita GDP and wealth distribution are comfy. Neither of those things, by the way, will get better if we keep importing uneducated illegals to lower the cost of home construction by 3%, or so that they can afford a now-cheaper cleaning service who works for less than minimum wage because they're fucking illegals instead of just vacuuming their own damn living rooms if 150 bucks a month is so precious to them.
>>38970218
you get paid nicely to sit in a comfy ventilated, a/c'd room and can occasionally shitpost online.
you really do not want to be in a cold warehouse stacking boxes. you cant take your time either. there's a system in place that grades how fast you work. if your LMS score drops below 0, you get a write up. it is not generous either.
>>38972965
Wagecucking isn't bad at all if it pays decently.
The problem is that most jobs that don't require a degree or a trade pay shit.
I'd be full of fucking life if my current job paid me $17 or $18 an hour. I'd be able to move out, get me a nice place and have plenty left over for savings.
But no, I get paid shit so it makes me feel like I'm wasting my time and that's what makes it shitty.

>>38965841
I got into a massive depression right after highschool that lasted 3 years, struggles and failed with everything I tried since, and now I'm unemployable, not even for construction

There was never any master plan for me, I was born by mistake and I will die by mistake, my greatest accomplishment will be filling captchas
Why do people want to go into debt to work 60-70 hour weeks on a $70k salary pay?

>>38973832
why do you say that as if $70k is a bad salary? that's pretty good pay
>>38973971
Because if you're working 60-70 hours and only getting $70k you're being taken advantage of. If you were hourly that'd be like $22/hr. You could go drive machines for that much while only working 50 hours a week.

Ill be honest, construction is a COMFY job. When I worked with my dad, we usually took our time and only rushed if asked to do so by our clients. We'd eat some lunch round noon and leave by 5. If the client's not a woman, they'd usually come out and joke with you.
Problem is that if you're not fit or young the pain you experience from the work is terrible. my dad was fit but he was in his 40s so he had a hard time.
I wouldn't do it long term due to the pain. The comfiness Is absolutely top tier though.
>>38974862
Oh fuck I forgot to mention that the toilet was an issue. Usually the client let me in to use the bathroom, but sometimes they just didn't bother. My dad let me walk down to a public restroom for that, but he mentioned how when he worked for a certain jew he ended up shitting in a trash bag.
>>38967854
A trade of some sort is my only realistic option and I've been putting off trade school for years now. I can't draw for shit, even when I have a reference right in front of me. I didn't even consider the possibility of failing out of blue collar education, but I've come to realize I'm incredibly fucking stupid in the last year or two and it's a very real possibility now that I think about it. I don't know what I'll do if this plan fails, I can't live off of minimum wage. I wish I'd tried harder in school as a kid, my parents never pushed me and I honestly though everything was just going to fall into place.
