I love my 3ds and used to have good games for it, never had the balls to play it in public. Also have a GBA SP I just bought to play at school during my downtime, only played it in library behind backpack. That Pokemon Yellow life

People HATE video gamers. Always have. It's weird. I was playing Pokemon go during the fad and my female friend got all mad "they can track us, stop" I tried to explain how cell phones are tracked 24/7, that they know where you are, even when it's off, the tech behind it, etc
But it was all " nah nah nah, I like celll phones, but video games are evil"
People refuse to listion. They will watch big bang theory canned laughter every night but if you play a emotional story driven immersive video game that took millions of dollars to produce, they hate you.

I don't know where you live, but gaming around here is pretty mainstream nowadays. Just about everyone has at least a console, even if it's only use is a Madden machine.

Phone gaming is seen differently because it's a communication/social object primarily, with a side function of entertainment. A 3DS is only meant for gaming, and has no other use not done better by a phone. Also, Gameboys are associated with children.

I see people with 3DS's occasionally during plane or long bus rides, so it seems to be okay in situations where you're expected to not be doing anything for an extended period of time.

Is playing Vita more or less autistic than a 3DS?

I play my 3DS on the train sometimes. I don't really care. Nobody has said anything yet. I did used to like the old /v/ meme though.
