I actually went in as an electronics assembler, where I rarely had a break from working and had to stand all day, but then management promoted me to quality assurance engineer when they saw that I did a 2 year course in electrical/electronic engineering..

the only work I ever do is inspect shit for scratches and word documents for outgoing stuff, any problems I just tell other people to fix. comfiest engineering job tbqh but boring as fuck if you rarely get any work.

my old workmates in assembly give me bad looks every time I walk past them to the office with a coffee in hand.

I somehow landed a job at an office in January and while the first two months were somewhat busy, I really haven't done anything there for months. I probably actually worked a total of 8 hours in July. It's ridiculous. At first I was afraid they'd realize I don't really do anything and would lay me off, but then I found out that the majority of my coworkers are in similar situations. And it seems to be something pretty common in office enviroments. I really don't understand why they make you work 9 to 5. I can't believe the ones in charge don't know about this. But probably everyone would be paid way less if they had to work fewer hours, so I really can't complain, I guess.
