This is Nick Drake, the OP post.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obOWSCmzEAY
Crafted some amazing and complex guitar melodies but his crippling autism prevented him from prospering. His pot smoking and reluctance to perform live made him go unnoticed. Depressed and discouraged, he killed himself at 26.
>>38669277
The saddest thing is that he killed himself by accident, taking too many antidepressants.
He was actually getting better before
I've heard tumblr likes him for some reason
this dude killed himself by stabbing himself in the chest twice with a kitchen knife. he was a drug addict his whole life and supposedly got molested by his stepdad as a kid. fucking waste too, he made some of the most beautiful music ive ever heard.

No he didn't. No one takes a whole bottle of pills by accident. That's just something his dad kept saying because he had too much pride to admit that his son took his own life and he couldn't stop it. He was not getting better before and his father's diary proves that. He was reclusive and wouldn't leave his room for days at a time.

>tfw can recognize musicians just by their suicide method
It's a really weird feel
>>38669111
Learned about Nick Drake bc Elliot Smith supposedly was influenced. Might favorite song with him is his cover of Milk & Honey.
>>38669603
He wasn't
Eliott first heard about Nick Drake after someone told him he made similiar music
>>38669480
How can someone so talented die so young?
>>38669111
Wtf happened to Syd Barrett
>>38669560
its not that weird, to be honest. not a lot of musicians commit suicide and the ones that do tend to have very interesting stories and interesting music. smith was one of the best ones imo.

Drake's Milk and Honey cover was really good. Jackson C. Frank, the original writer of that song was also a robot. The guy had an absolutely terrible life.
>be at school as a kid
>furnace blows up
>kills your friends and girlfriend
>disfigures you horribly
>learn guitar in the hospital while recovering
>fall in love with music
>room with Simon and Garfunkel a few years later
>make amazing music together
>they make it big
>you're too autistic to perform live
>go to England and spend all your money
>develop schizophrenia
>go back to New York and live homeless
>get discovered by a producer
>try one last time to have a career
>die of a heart attack
One of my favorite Frank songs. Shame he only released one album.

Wikipedia seems to sort of imply/confirm this, so im gonna choose to believe you mr. internet guy

He was probably inspired a little bit after getting into him. Elliott was the kind of musician to draw influence from any artist he listened to at the time.
hide.
>Grew up obese and was teased constantly
>Lived vicariously through rock music
>Lost weight due to bulimia
>Still prone to manic attacks
>Could never admit that he was bi, could never hold a full relationship
>One of his closest friends leave due to being brainwashed by a cult, and the band has to split.
>Despite career success, was financially taken advantage of by his younger brother (manager) and rarely got payed
>Knew loneliness too well
>Hung himself when he realized life held no more luster.
Drowning in a sea of grey, the Pink Spider couldn't find wings.

LSD, tho he was not a robot by any means
Floyd went downhill when he went bonkers
>>38669963
hide was a crazy motherfucker. God rest his soul.
>>38670079
Although I barely know you anon, we share the same grief.
>>38669779
>and blinded on one eye by a pellet gun by some shit head kids
>>38669480
but he wasn't a robot so fuck off
>>38670885
Are you literally retarded? Watch any interview of him and tell me the dude didn't have some kind of social deficiency.
>>38669757
Lemme say thanks. Never heard this but holy shit. "Surfs Up" is very good also! Time to get the keyboard out
>>38670972
I think the correct term is cyborg
>>38672107
Cyborg is just a retarded term made up by normies to try to justify their self-pity
Pic related, never really had any romance, was in one of the best British bands of all time, always sang about loneliness/depression/longing for love. Also had a shitty upbringing. Some say he's not a robot, but I know that deep down, gay ol Moz was one of us and still is.
>>38669161
Holy fuck! I had a dream about him last night (this afternoon) because I've been listening to a ton of Type O Negative lately.
>>38669779
I was going to mention Jackson C. Frank if nobody else did. Between him and Peter Steele we're getting some new blood in these robot musician threads tonight.
>>38672107
Correct. He was charming in his own way but ultimately too fucked up to live very long.
Do any of you robots play or even make music? I'm learning some Nick Drake songs on my shitty $90 acoustic guitar. It's very therapeutic. I'd like to write my own songs very soon.
>>38673593
I produce weird beats and i also picked up electric guitar at the beginning of summer
Thibking of making my own guitar music

Yes I have a bandcamp and everything

Hope you enjoy anon, good luck with guitar

Dude, Graveyard Party would be a great song if the vocals weren't shite. You should really either remove them or try to harmonize them to match the texture of the instrumental. Right now they kinda stick out like a sore thumb. Sort that out and you have a great track. You're off to a great start, I hope you get somewhere with this.
>>38674206
I did those vocals ;-;
How do I fix them? I just did them how my only bandmate said I should, what can I do to make them better? Pls help me music is my only viable option roght now to make a living and it's the only thing I like doing, did you hear anything else btw?
>>38674296
I'm not saying the voice was bad, you just need to add to it so it fits into the song. Try vocal filters, reverb, or overlapping harmonized vocal tracks. You basically have to experiment until the vocals feel like they belong in the song. Listen to some My Bloody Valentine, the vocals on their songs always sound soft, which fits perfectly into their hard, but edge-softened instrumentals. I also listened to Crawling Through the Attic and I Want To Feel. I liked those 2, though Attic feels like a transitional track on an album rather than a song I'd put on just to listen to in order to fit a feeling.
>>38674754
I'm a big fan of MBV, I was going for a sort of similar sound, but I guess my voice isn't right for that style. There's actually a shitload of reverb on the vocals already. Crawling through the attic is just a track I made one afternoon for fun, I don't take that one very seriously. I reccomend you listen to This is why as well, if you enjoyed I want to feel. Sort of similar. Have a good night anon.
>>38674979
This Is Why is groovy. Reminds me of Salvia Palth. Just keep on experimenting. Trial and error is a critical part of learning to make music. You'll be just fine. Good night, anon, and good luck.
>>38673593
I did this and now I'm p good
No robot musician thread is complete without some Daniel

I liked the beginning of graveyard party, but the vocals are too thin or low compared to everything else. Song kind of reminds me of Turnover, however I dig the ambient noise but it's drowning out the guitar and drums most the time.
Crawling through the attic sounds like some Turok soundtrack shit.
>>38669111
I try to make cute little songs for fun.
