Love is like eating delicious dessert at a 5 star restaurant everyday. One day, the restaurant says they'll stop serving dessert. You still go there everyday in hopes of them bringing it back, and maybe you think you'll find something else enjoyable. Then the restaurant shuts down. You're crushed, but given enough time, you know you can find another restaurant that will at least be half as good.

Being alone your whole life is like being wheelchair-bound and all restaurants requiring you to go up 20 feet of stairs just to enter. You're surrounded by good food, and you know it, but fuck you if you'll ever get a chance to try it. Occasionally some people will walk out with takeout from the restaurants. I lost mine at 19 and you're right. People who argue what the OP is arguing are full of shit. If nothing else, it does permanently boost your self-esteem, even if only slightly. Because no matter how bad things get, you can always look back and think: "Well, *someone* considered me good enough to fuck/date/love". The heartache of a break-up does go away, though.

I don't think that this is something that anyone can look at objectively unless they've personally experienced both sides, which would be rare given that those who are a virgin at 25+ tend to stay that way. But the problem with having absolutely no romantic experiences is that you can't live in those moments, even years after the fact, if you've never had those times at all.
