In 2007 I was just going into middle school. WoW was the biggest waste of my life. I got home from school, and played it until midnight every weekday, and on the weekends, I played it from 8am to midnight. Then when summer vacation came around, I did raids 18-20 hours per day everyday.
Meanwhile my peers are going to summer camp, getting in shape, and having their first girlfriends.

You wouldn't be better off playing an MMORPG. I started playing with a group of "friends", but it just isn't real socializing. It's so limited, and they eventually got bored or left our guild.
Don't get me wrong, it's cool to play on the computer for like an hour per day, but most of the important aspects of socializing come from in person interaction with other human beings. Otherwise a kid just grows up to be too anxious to interact if it isn't on a screen. Although, I'm projecting my own life onto this conclusion.

Well the core group that played wow then play all sorts of games together even today, ten years later. I see them occasionally but still can't really relate because they have their game group and have a rich social life with wives and gfs.
One hour gaming per day is really low honestly. They sometimes have asked me to play with them but I don't really have a gaming computer plus it seems like it's too late.
