Why not treat yourself? When the 8 or 12 month milestone comes up take some heroin to reward yourself. Just don't make a habit of it.

I implore you study self-control in more depth to overcome your addiction. Quitting your addiction must be hard enough on your willpower, but going at it without being aware of these pitfalls in self-control will only end badly for you. Also, aren't there meds to help with withdrawal?
