Do you miss the feel of the early-mid 2000s, /r9k/?

People seem to think things when to shit after 9/11 but I think things from Late 2001-2006 were still fantastic. It was 2007 with the iPhone, Great Recession, social media, Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit booming in traffic, the fucking Big Bang Theory, etc. where things truly went downhill.
>>
>>38512373
I used to miss it but then I stopped missing it and just became miserable all the time and lost all notion of time itself.
>>
>>38512373
I wish time stopped going forward after 2006
>>
I only miss 2009 through 2012. Those were the most carefree, enjoyable years of my life. Actually had a good, hot girlfriend and was loving life. Now everything is lackluster and it leaves me feeling jaded.
>>
>>38512373
2000-2007 were the best years of my life. I was a kid in middle/high school and didn't have much of a care in the world. it wasn't until after I graduated in 2008 and I wasn't able to get a job because of how shit the economy was, and having to deal with my parents constant bitching, and the explosion of social media that really turned my life to shit

Yes. I will add an addendum to your statement, for the purposes of clarification:

>post 9/11: times were worse than pre-9/11
>post 2007/iPhone release: worse than the times that came before
>>
2007 is widely recognized as the year everything went to shit by anyone sensible, yes.

They further went to shit in the late 2010s with Snapchat, Tinder, etc.

Tinder has almost single-handledly destroyed traditional dating. Dating without the girl cheating is nearly impossible these days, thanks to Tinder + women becoming less and less moral.

2007 by itself felt awesome but was clearly the beginning of the end in hindsight.

You could argue that this applies to the early-mid 2000's in general, perhaps the blessings of the time implied their own destruction. We all know post-9/11 patriotism couldn't not plow itself off a bridge, for instance.

I am so glad that nostalgia for the early 2000s it starting to become popular! I didn't get to experience much of the 90s but the 2000s was my time, and I fucking love it!

It doesn't seem like it but the early 2000s are some of the comfiest years there ever were.
This was prime cartoon network and nickelodeon which seems weird. Idk why but it seems like that stuff should have all been before 9/11.
Family guy was good, halo was good, people were excited about the future.
To rip off interstellar people used to look up and wonder about our place in the stars. Now they just look down and worry about our place in the dirt.
Between terrorism and all this fucking alarmism from concerned liberals, climate change will kill us all, bees are dying, fags feel sad, people are killing all the animals, the economy is going to collapse, healthcare is going to fail, Russia is going to nuke us, North Korea is going to nuke us, China is going to nuke us, iran is going to nuke us.
The fear campaigns never end. Every day there's a new thing to be afraid of, or outraged about, or concerned with, or standing for.
Idk what they're trying to distract us all from but every day as I look around I watch my immediate neighborhood and area look a little bit worse. Roads are falling into terrible disrepair, vacant lots are remaining vacant, there's so much vacant commercial space around here nothing has replaced the old blockbuster video since it went out of business. The only stores that are thriving are placed like ross or Marshalls.

This started in 2001 with 9/11, and since that day and everyone knew the 2000s were about the terrorism and not the utopia we strived in the 90s.
>>
>>38512373
Honestly everything before 2005 just feels like an extension of the 90s it's like the early 2000's never formed their own distinct feeling.

Me too. Here's an idea/request: anyone thought about making a video montage of 2000-2006 things, with somber early 2000s music playing in the background?

Plus 2007 was when History channel beginning to show non history shows, Autotune becoming popular, Keeping up with the karsashians premiering, hipsters and non masculine themes becoming cool, Tumblr founded, etc.

It was not 2007, Facebook and smartphones. Since most of you are about 19-20, it was just your puberty starting.

Somwewhere at late part of elementary school, your friends and peers were less and less interested in kids things like pokemon and more in girls and first parties, sex and penis jokes started to be a thing. Maybe some of your friends wanted to hang out more with this older cool kids than with you.

But you were still on this pokemon phase so you felt left behind.

In 2010-11 le nostalgy was about 90's, in early 2000's about 80's and so on. It's always about the time when today's yound adult's childhood ends.

I'm 29 and I can say this is true. I feel 2001 was the beginning of the endless bad times, but I know it was probably mostly just me becoming a teenager and hitting puberty.

Nice projection. Facebook affects me personally because I'm pressured by family, especially my dad, to consume and respond/ackowledge/like posts from other family members. I remember using Homestead web pages and webrings as a form of social media in the early oughts, and it was a far more unique experience when compared to Facebook, which is the worst kind of self indulgence and conformity.
