Best thing is to have a VPN that doesn't store IPs on at all times when you go to a site that might possibly have anything underage. This won't stop you from getting it cached, but it does make it hard to trace it to you if worst comes to worst. Beyond that, not a whole lot you can do. The problem with strict liability crimes like "possessing" underage images is that simply proving that something you owned had the images is enough. That means if you have ever visited a page that had an underage person in what could be viewed as a sexual position, you're already considered guilty. If that sounds retarded, it is, and it's why strict liability crimes are fucking insane.

Interestingly, statutory rape is also a strict liability crime. Even if the underage person lies to you or shows you a forged ID to convince you to have sex with them, you're still 100% guilty in the eyes of the law despite believing you were not breaking the law. There was a case recently of a girl using her fake ID to get into a club, hitting on a guy, showing him her fake ID, and him fucking him, and he got slapped with statutory rape charges. He didn't do anything wrong, but all that mattered was that he did it even if he was tricked.

This is where the concept of "children cannot consent to sex" originally came from. But in Old Testament time, instead of children it was just virgin daughters in general. A girl was "raped" if a man had sex with her without her father's permission.

1500 years later, in Victorian England, the feminist movement started. Women pushed to be treated more like people and less like property, so they fought against the idea that a girl's father is the one who consents to her having sex. However, these were Victorian era Christian Feminists, so they decided that the solution was to make it so *no one* could consent on behalf of the girl. They engineered a child prostitution scandal to show the evils of leaving the decision to the father, and raised the "age of consent" to 16.

Then in the 20th century the sexual liberation movement happened so attitudes started changing, and people started thinking that maybe the child should be the one who consents to sex. But the FBI decided that it'd be really convenient to be able to have an excuse to exert a huge power over the internet and arrest people for stuff they "find" on their computers, so they put a stop to that. And of course in the 80s there was an imaginary epidemic of satanic daycare rape, so now people hate pedophiles even more than they did 100 years ago when people thought sex was evil.
