What I said is Alphas would be assigned to more aptly fitting roles such as infantry, versus betas more likely to be pencil pushers or in armored divisions or support personnel, ON AVERAGE.

Now it's obvious that more betas die than alphas in ABSOLUTE numbers.
But as far as relative losses, the Alpha population (20% or so of total) suffers more than betas.

Generals, especially historically, were much more likely to be nerds, and rarely, if ever, did any fighting. They came from privileged background, and usually went directly from military academies to command.
