Cops don't show warrants until you're already outside sitting in your front yard

They'll flash it at ya, but they won't let you read through it until they do a little walk through to make sure shits not dangerous

I know this because a roommate was once party vanned and luckily the police were nice and let the other housemates keep their electronics

Run to my computers and turn them off "accidentally". Say I forgot the password to the encrypted harddisks. I've actually forgotten passwords in the past, so it would hold up in court, probably.

I don't really have anything to hide except for several terrabytes of torrented anime, and my anime reaction pictures. It's just a matter of principle, you're not looking through my shit.
>>
>>38477795

Jesus Christ. Have you no idea how law enforcement works? If they have a warrant, you're fucked. You close the door on them and they'll knock it right down and have the dogs on you before your fatass can waddle to your computer

They're taking your property regardless of it being on or off. Not cooperating (ex turning shit off, not giving passwords, and just in general being a smug little shit) is obstruction of justice and in the US they'd honestly just throw more charges at you
Stupid, especially if you're only hiding torrented anime tiddies

>>
>>38477949

I do enjoy my police state, law is often on my side. I own land, I'm practically a king here lol
>where's my rent peasants

but in all seriousness I don't think police here conduct these sorts of things for anything less than CP. Usually when you get in trouble from torrenting, your ISP sends some letters than they probably just throw a subpoena your way. That shits hard to prove but when it comes to CP THEY DONT FUCK ROUND
>>
>>38477154
NONONONONO ANYTHING BUT MY TENDIES
>>
>>38478060
Well sucks for them I don't have any CP. There are other reasons as to why the police could raid my house, drugs being one of them.
>>
>>38477922
>especially if you're only hiding torrented anime tiddies
why tho
>>
>>38478097
Idk what the law is in your country but here the cops would have a hard time busting you for other illegal things while searching for a different illegal thing with the help of a warrant

Example
>cops raid my house
>angry knocks, dogs going crazy
>have a warrant for blah blah blah, need everyone to step outside, any booby traps or animals etc
>politely step outside while whole neighborhood is watching
> search through house, maybe 10 mins
> handed warrant, see that some file hosting website reported CP that a room mate was sharing/posting
>thoroughly search the house
>look in the attic
>aw shit my sawed off shotgun and my rifle, both unregistered and 1 is completely illegal, are up there in plain sight
>cops come out of attic empty handed
>takes 2 of roommates computers, lets other housemates keep their shit after running basic searches (*.jpg & *.mp4)

Moral of the story, be nice and you get to keep your illegal guns
>>
>>38478200
>takes 2 of roommates computers
What happened to them?
>lets other housemates keep their shit after running basic searches (*.jpg & *.mp4)
When they raid someone they start searching on location and if they find nothing they can leave and let you keep your stuff?
>>
>>38478244

They fucked up his computers real good. Didn't see them for over a year, once he got them back they were internally damaged and they even deleted software. All fucked up, unusable and broken. Any computer shop would probably recognize that the police liked through it, super weird error messages and the like.

And no, the cops reserved the right to take everything but if you make their job easier by cooperating and being nice, they will be nice to you. Also, had there been any questionable files they wouldn't have hesitated to take my shit too
>>
>>38478324
But why did they take his computers?
>if you make their job easier by cooperating and being nice, they will be nice to you.
What if I have over 100,000 image files, nothing illegal and don't want to lose my computer for a year...could they just go through it at my house? Could I give them stuff to eat and drink while they search? How much time do they have?
>>
Come on in, the only time I have access to the internet is at the local library officer.
>>
>>38478383

The warrant was for him. The file hosting website revealed his email in the search warrant. When you upload things you shouldn't, file hosting websites go out of their way to report it to the authorities. Everything is easy to trace, especially when it's a dipshit posting everything

Nah, they don't want to waste their time. They'd take it if it seems too much of a chore to do on location.
Luckily I just switched to Linux and had a skeleton for a hard drive otherwise they could have taken it too.

It's a case by case basis. We were nice and they were nice to us. Had we been uncooperative, they would have taken anything and everything

Warrants itemize that which can be confiscated

They could have taken all electronics, digital media, cameras, i don't remember what else specifically but all of it is layed out in the warrant

That's why they didn't take my guns
>>
>>38477096

>they don't want to waste their time. They'd take it if it seems too much of a chore to do on location.

>>
>live in japan

>>38478493

>>38478544

> don't be posting sketchy shit on your computer

>>
>>38477772

In America that's true since you are cucked there.
In Europe it's a different matter. You can hold the warrent and read it before you let them in.
>>
>>38478615

Yeah. Ever heard of max hardcore?
You are an idiot, doesn't matter if she's 2D, if she is represented as being underage then the law views it as obscene and on par with cp
>>
>>38478659

If they show me the warrant, that's more than enough. Chances are they'll be there for a while, I'll read it eventually

Also, it gives you the slim chance of NOT being shown the warrant. In that case, illegal search and seizure and you get all dem animu tiddies
>>
>>38478663

Max Hardcore didn't get jailed because of loli. He was shooting scenes with perfectly legal 3D girls.... while forcing them to drink liters of water and making them puke them out again on film. He got locked up for obscenity charges, because his porn was simply too disgusting, even for degenerate tastes.
>>
>>38478566
>What are you gonna do?
That's what I'm wondering.

What happens if I have an entire backup of my computer files (nothing illegal) on an external harddrive, hide it and if they take all my electronic stuff I don't mention it but they then discover that I kept a backup from them? What if it's after they give me back my computer?

I'd magnetize my drives, then let them in as if I didn't just do it, and just take the 5th.

It's not that hard. They would have nothing.
>>
>>38478709

Max hardcore got in trouble because in a movie, a character stated she was underage

The actress playing said character was of course over 18. But that didn't matter, it became a huge deal and it's why they say "actors and characters are over age 18" these days
>>
>>38478704

Asking to be shown the warrant does not mean you will NOT be shown it.
Maybe in non free America it does.

But in Europe they're required by law to actually show you it and state why they are there before even asking to come in.

It's laughable when Americans have less freedom than the dystopian UK.

I'm too boring, unless they have a vendetta against me I'm not in trouble. I like hentai and weeb shit and vidya and all that stuff, but I don't access dark web nodes at all and I don't even torrent anymore. If I'm guilty, so are tens of millions of other people in the US alone on 4chan, tumblr, reddit, fanfiction sites, deviantart, and all the other places where creative works and fan art are hosted.
The FBI doesn't care about people like me, when they v& people (which costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to do) it's usually because they're running and operating an online operation sharing child abuse videos and pictures. The people who get caught usually have terabytes worth of illegal shit on their drives.
Sorry to break the persecution complex, but the police don't care about anime and manga. Hell, a lot of younger officers are fans themselves and the police provide security at cons.

A blatant misunderstanding of how FBI funds are allocated combined with baseless paranoia that turns almost every frequent internet user into a target. Great argument. The investigative offices, the SWAT team, the attorneys, the court system, would all waste their time? Those incidents are rare. The number of convictions on obscenity related cases can be counted with the fingers on one hand.

I hear the Feds don't really care that much about cp unless you're distributing them and even that gets tossed aside unless you're mass producing/distributing.

Also the terabyte guy has a point too, the FBI would be busy partying busing more than half the world if one measly picture has looked at or saved.

"These people" = 5% of the male population

There are 3.7 billion men in the world, do the math.

Why do you want hundreds of millions of innocent people to be jailed for their thoughts? Do you know that these people include victims of child molestation and some of your friends and relatives? That "market" (>implying they all consume cheese pizza) will never be "destroyed". Stop supporting punishment for thoughtcrimes, as I said. If you ever get framed and jailed, that feeling of being punished while having hurt nobody will rot your soul.

Exactly, it's easier to collect evidence on the heavy users and distributors. The end users usually get caught via electronic warrants on the distrubuters computer. It's easier that way.

Last month he was talking about a raid in the Virginia Beach area where some faggot had been seeding cheese for months. When they knocked on his door and announced themselves he grabbed a gun and put a bullet through his computer. He was then tackled to the ground as the team came in.
Funny thing is, he missed the hard drive and hit the motherboard. So it's the worst case scenario for him. He gets charged with obstruction as well as destruction of evidence without successfully destroying his pizza collection. The agents thought it was hilarious.

Who knows. I'm not an expert on how it works but the risk might've paid off if they couldn't prove anything. Google says pizza is 5 years while obstruction is 1-3.
The only other one related to this topic was a few months ago, also in VA beach. Some NEET in his 40's that lived in his mom's apartment was served a warrent for electronic devices and got in a shootout with police. He wounded an officer before surrendering after a standoff. Poor bastard turned a brief stint in prison into a life sentence by shooting a cop.

I suspect they say this about every PC. I've heard stories of the feds taking computers, threatening for a confession by claiming they found enough to lock the person up for half a decade, then giving it back three months later without pressing charges.
General advice for anons: the best thing to do if the cops knock on your door with a warrant is to comply. Give up what the court allowed them to take, then immediately find a lawyer. If you're innocent, your lawyer will help with your personal defense. DO NOT share a lawyer with anyone else or your family. Its about defending YOU personally. A family lawyer has the interests of the paying client at heart. If you're guilty (you would know if you were. If there's a question about it in your mind, you probably aren't), the plan should be to minimize damage and take the most favorable plea deal possible.

A dude in my country got 7 months for having pictures, even though he could name the site where he got them from. It was an official porn site, with 2257 documentation and all.

They still locked him up for 5 pics.

So if they knock, just pull out a gun and dump the entire mag into the hard drive.

>cops knock on the door as my dad is leaving for work

>mentions a little bit to me before going to the station
>I have no idea about the severity so sort of sound indifferent when the cop asks me if I'm ok
>only realise later how suspicious that made me sound

Anyway, my dad pled guilty to everything because he didn't want it to drag out for years. They never said what they found on my brothers or mine, just that they would have to look further into it to find out the specifics and that would take more time. Could have been a bullshit tactic now that I think of it, to try and get 3 collars for the price of one.

Just regluar solo softcore shit.
Aka those nudes that are shot before the scenes are filmed, where there isn' any sexual action involved yet. He got jailed, because one of the dudes was having an errection and they said that it therefore has to be pornographic in nature.

This would only work if you had a rediculously powerful magnet / degaussing device. Mechanical hard drives already have a very strong magnet inside them, and I don't believe SSDs are even affected by magnetism.

They took his pc for unrelated reasons. As far as i have heard, it had something to do with him threatening somebody on facebook or some reason. They confiscated his PC and found his porn. At the trial, they got testimony from forensic expert who said that there was abou 70% or something chance, that the dudes were underage. But the judge essentially didn't care and wrote in his opinion, that it is not about the actual age of the performers, but about the impression, that is being conveyed.

Thats also why they threw out his 2257 defense.
>>
>>38483734

In Europe you can get your house raided for merely posting an offensive blog entry or dating legal aged girls. Even anonymous sources are enough to have your ass raided.

Its called Anscheinsjugendpornographie, which roughly translates to "Simulated CP". You can google it and throw the sites into google translator. It is an EU-wide law, that was created by feminists and conservative catholics to ""protect"" ""children" <18. Despite the average age of consent being 15 in the EU.

So you can legally fuck a 14 year old in my country, but when you download nudes of emma mae, you are going to jail for cp.

You might break a platter or two with a hammer. A powerful enough gun should be able to go through and shatter the platters.

It doesn't matter though, the best way to protect your data is encryption. If they are going to give you a warrant, they know you'll want to destroy the data if you get the chance. The first thing they'll do after you open the door is handcuff you.

With encryption you don't have that situation, because it's mathematically improbable that they'll ever decrypt your data.

Encryption has been ruled on twice (possibly more now) and in both cases the judge said had the defendants not admitted what their encrypted data was, they could not have been forced to give up their key.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_re_Boucher
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/06/massachusetts-high-court-orders-suspect-to-decrypt-his-computers/

In both cases the accused had shown/told the officers what the data was; They willingly incriminated themselves, so they weren't protected under the 5th amendment.
