the only "incurable" STDs you might run into are aids and the herp. HPV is kind of a special case, given that the vast majority of HPV infections show no symptoms and clear themselves to undetectable levels (actually some debate here on whether viral load goes to absolute 0 or just 0.0000000000001, but who cares) in short order. also, there are literal vaccines.

even among the incurables, herpes is manageable and even HIV is (if you can pay for the drugs) really no different than a chronic illness you have to manage.

the other shit people get from sex usually clears up from a round of antibiotics or a medicated shampoo.

the study above has produced the crazy sounding "1 in 4" thing because its counting HPV, which is something most people get at some point in their life (even more do in developing countries, also) and basically have no idea because it often does not manifest any symptoms and then goes away.

american sex ed is so focused on abstinence-only that actual information on STDs basically reduces to "here are some images of herpetic sores on a vagina, don't be a slut"
