Being drunk makes reading subtitles consistently difficult. I've had to rewatch episodes because my drunk self saying "yeah I totally followed that episode" was very wrong.

Drinking helps you ignore the shitty parts of an anime while enjoying the good parts.

Generally speaking, drinking lifts your mood so it makes sense you'd enjoy watching something in a good mood than in a bad mood.

Because watching it sober is painful.
