Anyone else notice how much things changed during this year? Social media got really big and it feels like technology was coming up with something new every month.

It was the year that the damage became irreversible. I wonder if those imageboard historians are still doing projects, or if they've all moved on by now. If they're still around writing pieces, they'll probably all mark 2007 as the turning point where we entered the dystopian internet we have today.
Early 2007 was GOAT. Late 2007 was shit.
>>38356269
2007-now just feels like one long year to me.
>>38356269
how old were you in 2007
2007 was the beginning of the end of the end of the beginning
>>38356269
>2007
>this starts playing

To be fair though, that was the year Team Fortress 2 and Bioshock came out

>things when to shit after 1989
>things went to shit after 1992
>things went to shit after 1999
>things went to shit after 2001
>things went to shit after 2007
>now people are saying things went to shit after 2011
which is it? give it time and people are gonna be saying 2017 was the year everything went wrong
>>38356496
It's funny because I hear normies say 2016 was when everything went to shit because Bonald Blumpf was elected then.
things felt different after that year. a lot of shitty things occurred in my life that year.
>>38356269
It was a better time. I know the internet has always had it's fair share of shit, but it was bad in a different sort of way. I'd say it was stupid but harmless, but now you have tumblr, facebook, youtube, and twitter that are toxic waste heaps pretending to be websites that ooze cancer. If I could go back and stop social media from ever being a thing, I would.
>>38356408
>tfw like tumblr
Oh well...
>tfw might have liked myspace
>>38356546
Saw a chart recently about the increasing concentration of internet traffic to fewer and fewer websites over time. Now it's something like 30 websites get most of the internet traffic whereas in the past this was not the case.
>>38356556
>she's too young to have had a myspace
Christ I want to die, these are the people that populate this site now. I need to leave, the demographics aren't the same and they haven't been for a literal fucking decade now
Yup. Watching movies for me went from VHS to CDs to pirating in a matter of a few years.
Played with toys as a kid, now they go on the internet for fun. It's pretty crazy.
>>38356605
>the average 4chan user doesn't know what life without facebook is
>>38356713
The internet would be so much better if it wasn't accessible to people under 18.
>>38356605
>she
wtf are you on anon
remember being able to type in whatever you wanted without worrying about the police kicking your door down and hauling you off in the night.
The internet police was just a meme you use to wind up butt hurt crybabys on the internet and people who said the govern, net watches your browsing were considered Alex jones tier lunatics.

>remember being able to type in whatever you wanted without worrying about the police kicking your door down and hauling you off in the night.
So much this. Internet used to be free, now you can't do shit.
>>38356269
>yfw it's nearly 2020
Give it to me straight robots, how much worse is it going to get?
>>38357113
>next year girls born in 2000 will do porn
2007 is the year of evil
>>38357169
>People born in 1996-1998 are already fucking in porn for $$$
I remember being made fun of for having a LAN party with my mates (counter strike and Quake) by normies at high school.
Now my 62 year old father is inviting me to join his facebook games because he can't progress in the game without inviting more people. Even my fucking grandma is on it now.

Smart phones weren't even popular until 2009, along with Facebook. I remember kids still using Myspace and texting on those sliding phones, whatever you call em. Twitter was made fun of as just a Facebook status until like 2010.

Yes, but childish venting about websites aside, and how to get there, more and more money has been poured into the interweb. That's what has really been changing it.
