Theatre kids can be extroverted, but generally accept people easily. They tend to be nice people, often lgbt of some sort. You'll likely be nervous and mess up things, but anyone experienced will understand.
At least that's been the experience with the theatre groups I've been in

There's plenty of work to be done backstage in theater i.e. makeup, costume, tech crew, stage design, etc. People need those things done and they play a valuable role in the production.

People in theater don't care if you're extroverted. If you have some form of artistic ability that can be put to use, then that's all that really matters.
