happened to me in december of 2014, someone i'd known since summer of 2011 decided they were done with me and banned me from their FFXIV guild and blocked me on all forms of social media. as far as i could tell they had no reason to hate me other than maybe messaging them a little too often. they'd been in and out of being sexually explicit with me in chats but then they'd get a gf/bf for a little while and tone it down. i imagine they might have just gotten too weirded out by how our interactions worked out

I've ghosted someone before. It wasn't because I hated him or anything, it's just that I really needed to focus on school at the time and had to be off the internet for a while. I met him through the zeemaps thread and had only been talking to him for a week so I didn't feel the need to pick it back up. Sorry if you're reading this m8.

I've also been ghosted before, the moment I say something remotely awkward OR boring the person instantly ghosts me. Internet interaction actually seems harder than real life at times. People use you as an on/off switch for entertainment and leave when they please.

I've never been ghosted but I've ghosted a lot of people. I try to make internet friends sometimes but every time conversations seem awkward and forced even after talking for a while, and a lot of the time the person wants to talk to me for longer than I want to talk to them.

I don't really see ghosting as being that cruel, would they rather I tell them "I don't enjoy talking to you and don't think this would work out, bye"? Telling someone that I feel that way would make both them and me feel worse. At least with ghosting, even if you think that's the reason you'll never know for sure. I don't block them or anything I just stop using the account associated with them.

Aside from passive shit the only time I've ever been outright ghosted and really cared was when a girl from one of those chart threads added me, she was from other side of the world so our schedule was a bit different but I would stay up all the time to talk to her, she was awkward and nerdy and we got along well, then eventually she just stopped coming online. I made a good friend on /lolg/ for a while, he was some American dude, hugely depressed.

We had heart to hearts about our miserable lives and talked daily. One day we played League together, I was on 110 ping trying to play on the NA server and he and his friend were diamond. I was silver and I wasn't doing so hot, his friend started tearing into me so I told him to get fucked.

After the game I was a bit steamed and obviously he defended his other friend, so I told him whatever it's fine and left it at that. He hasn't talked to me since.

I think about him often, he was a real bro dude and one little thing threw everything we had away. He's still there on my steam friends list, last I heard is that he got a job and moved on with his life. So I guess he doesn't need me anymore anyway.
