You should read the book, it's light reading with gems left and right. Essentially, Huxley wrote a genetically engineered "utopia" in which men and women are groomed specifically into different caste systems and programmed into very specific behaviors to maintain the utopia. Seeing as nature is God and man is imperfect, utopia is impossible; so naturally, there are leaks. Every once in a while there's a mistake in the genetic engineering lab, a person gets stranded in the middle of nowhere and meets long lost natives, a worker gets too much time alone to start thinking about their own existence, etc.

Huxley uses this premise to present a child that's born in the wild in some village of savages at a nature reserve outside of the society. Born to a woman of the brainwashed masses that was lost on a expedition, he is raised without the norma conditioning/brainwashing and instead learns from the village people, until he discovers a book containing the complete works of shakespeare. Yadda yadda, he becomes a shut-in perma virgin and manages to get to the "utopia", realizes everyone's shitty and is then secured by the "Controllers"-- the geniuses that make sure the society runs-- paralleled to the Savage, they were too smart and too curious to be a mindless hedonistic puppet. Any other INFJs thinking on the concept of morality?

The more I think about it being subjective, the more it bothers me, the more I think about it. I considered telling the cheating INFJ in this thread to neck themselves, but I figured it wouldn't amount to anything. If he doesn't care by default, he has no real reason to uphold morals.

I typed out a long post for my own sake, then deleted it. I can't make him care. Is morality more important, or freedom? Morality exists as a concept to be enforced on groups of people, to maintain long-term stability and order, nothing more. It inherently conflicts with freedom, to stop caring is to be free. We care about people because we're supposed to, and take offence to outliers who do not, despite the fact they can't help this fact.

Doesn't mean I want to like the guy. I really want to beat him up, honestly. Because I think of my reaction like the output of a machine, I do nothing. I keep rationalising my way to inaction, with more things than just this.

Holy shit I love that you two exist I am the EXACT same way.
