For me someone helped me. You really got to have a phone number, an address, clothes that aren't filthy, not being filthy yourself just to start looking for a job really.

Last time I gave money to an homeless person, they then tried to stab me because they noticed I had more money on me. Never again. I get a ton of 10 euros meal vouchers from work, so now I give them that (because I'm a weak man and can't say no when someone is telling me their whole probably invented life story).
