There is no such thing as a good or shit system.
It's all about the people. Any system is great if everyone's going to be a great person. On the other hand, if there's garbage in, there's going to be garbage out.

A system is just a tool. The tool doesn't determine how it's used. Any system requires people to enforce the rules, and people to follow those rules, and if people don't follow them, there's nothing anyone can do.

The reward is living standards rising and expenses falling at a steady, stable rate for everyone. Ever-improving living conditions remove people's reservations about pursuing their interests, finding a place in society and reaching maximum economic productivity and overall contentment, because they don't need to worry about fitting into the current demand for specific skill sets in a volatile market.

This type of motivation only works on people who've been raised to see value in long-term improvements and delayed gratification, which requires the state to invest in the right ideological education prior.

This works with people who've been raised respect the law and the labour of their fellow man.

Ideally everyone on the bottom tier would get jobs with great conditions because the people on the highest tiers would want to use their accumulated wealth to attract more employees, expanding their enterprises, creating more wealth, and winning against their competitors.

However, this only works if people stick to economic competition and refrain from illegal and unethical non-economic means to increase their wealth and destroy competitors.

This works with people who've been raised respect the law and the labour of their fellow man.

Also, inheritance needs to be curtailed somehow in a capitalist system, because it eliminates fair market competition over progressive generations and cripples the invisible hand.

Well that's exactly what modern day capitalism is turning into. The amount of people in middle class is drastically reducing so eventually there will only be extremely poor people and extremely rich people. Only that healthcare will still not be free, prices are going to be controlled by the corporations and the lives of the poor are going to be a lot worse than they would be in a communist system.
