Son, the time has come for you to pursue a seasonal trade. Come hither, I shall escort you to the blacksmith to inquire about an apprenticeship under his wing. Remember to look him in his eyes, stand up tall, and bow in humble gratitude.
Why do you roleplay on the internet?

Father, do not make me do this! I wish for nothing but to stay at the home, and read my scrolls from the eastern lands. Let my brother Woyakke go forth in my stead to work for such a paltry wage!

Sorry father, but t'is the monastery's call the one I shall heed.

"You may acquire all the scrolls you desire once you've worked an honest day's wage. We shall also entreat with the tanner, the butcher, and the goldsmith. Thou shalt express thy willingness to assist them in their duties, look them in the eye, and bow in humble gratitude."

robots wouldnt exist in the middle ages they'd just be left in the woods by their families to die.
they'd think you'd be retarded and decide to just have another kid.

Pretty much. Back then you were basically working for survival as soon as you were old enough. There was no NEETs or robots.
Hell there was pretty much no reason to. There was no internet, not comics or porn, there was books but most people couldn't read.
You worked because there was literally nothing else to do anyway.
Are we still pagans? I'll just live in a swamp having visions if that's alright by you; tell chief I'm a shaman now.
This is actually a dream of mine. I've regularly watched blacksmithing videos for hours on end for quite awhile. The sound of metal on metal gets me diamonds.
I wish I could just find an old blacksmith to teach me and I can runaway innawoods and be a man of steel.

I'd much rather go to the local castle and ask for a job in the kitchens. if I have to do hard labor in extreme heat, I at least want to eat well

Clearly *you've* never worked in Milord's kitchen. Touch his stocks and lose your tongue.
