It is totally fine for laptops - you'd be weird not too! For desktops, it's not weird to take them to your dorm/on campus housing, but it is weird to have them around with you while on campus, unless you're going to a LAN party on an engineering section.

Nope, you'll be fine. I thought it'd be weird when I went to my first year of college but it turned out at least 1 person in each room on my floor had brought there own PC from home. I do go to a historically "nerdy" college though, so take that with a grain of salt. You'll be fine though regardless of where you're going.

I brought my PC to college and nobody thought any less of me for it.

But then again, I was gifted a MBP from my grandparents that I used for school work. Never used the MBP for anything other than school work, since my PC's monitor and raw performance blows it out of the water.

I got a PC in my room in the college dorms. But there is no fucking way I'd take it on campus. My uni is so strict they ban you from using the internet if you porn or torrent and they scan any device on their network for illegal content. Like if you need help from IT services and they find any illegally downloaded music on your device, you don't get it back. I don't even like using my phone on their wifi
