This is correct. But it doesn't stop us from emotionally grooming people and justifying it to ourselves by thinking we're giving them what they want, that this is what we really want, etc. The eventual fallout is something we're ultimately aware of, but in the most intense and passionate phase of a relationship it never crosses our minds. I think INFJs generally live for that sort of intensity, something almost like a religious fervor that swallows them whole. Unfortunately it dies out rather quickly, but we tell ourselves we'd rather have loved and lost and whatnot.
