you got got by an age old scam my man.
>>

I could kind of feel it whenever I stopped. But probably could have gone another couple weeks/months without getting down to the calipers.
>>
I know that feel, but it's a retarded one.

It only took until I lived on my own and got into a negative balance a few times before I learned to manage my money and let go of financial anxiety. I used to freak out when I had 300 bucks left in my bank, now I feel rich as fuck when it's at 100.

How are we supposed to feel sorry for you? Is it CZK or Zimbabwe dollars?
>>
>>38013451
ask them if its still legally drivable and get your ass down to another garage

your likely getting memed OP by unscrupulous faggotass mechanics
>>
Changing your own brakes cost at most 100$ and it's easy as fuck. a how-to youtube video could teach you everything you need to know and every tool you need to get.

It has become so hard to come by people with manual know-how. Changing your brakes used to be a common skill.

Yes. If you don't know how to do it and you never had a father to teach you, just type "how 2 change oil" in Google and you'll get guides with which any roastie could do the job with.

>>38013644
Your incompetence is pathetic, anon. Changing the oil in your car is not a complex procedure worth paying a specialist for. It's routine maintenance that requires no prior knowledge or skill in cars or engines.
>>
>>38013686
Do you grow your own vegetables and butcher your own meat? Those things are also easy if you have lots of spare time.

I grow vegetable, berries, herbs and I'm going to get a hunting license as soon as possible, finance allowing.
>Those things are also easy if you have lots of spare time.
Yes, indeed they are, but contrary to them, changing your oil does not take a lot of spare time. You already own and drive a car, so why do you not maintain it? To use your growing example, you might as well plant yourself some a garden and hire someone else to water and take care of it.

I do alot of the easier task in car maintenance, as well as the easier DIY jobs.

There's only so much your father can show you though. Alot of it you'll forget if you don't work in that field. I didn't do any apprenticeships when I was young. I don't work in any trade realtors job.

I don't know how I'm supposed to randomly gain the knowledge to build an extension on the house, fix a boiler or fix a car engine

Changing your oil IS one of those easier tasks, anon.

>>38014139
>So if i Google it quickly I can become a mechanic and builder.
Stop strawmanning, retard. By Googling, you can find instructions to perform work. With these instructions you can learn how to do things and then perform them. Things, like changing the oil in your car.
>What car do you have anon?
Don't have one, too poor.
>>
>>38014183
Ok, I think your confused. I agree with simpler tasks, Google it etc. But how the fuck am I suppose to get the time to Google how to build an extension on my house or fix my car engine. That doesn't take ten minutes and I wouldn't have the time to actually perform the task, especially the fucking extension building.

You don't have a car, so do you change the oil on other people cars or what?
>>
>>38014234
>But how the fuck am I suppose to get the time to Google how to build an extension on my house or fix my car engine.
You're not working 24/7, are you? Building an extension's of course a long term project and I'm not saying you should be able to do it, but you should know the basics of how the engine in your car works and what might be causing the issues in it. Or at least know how to Google the fault. Not like you'd be able to fix a serious fault in a modern car without breaching the warranty, fucking with insurance and specialist tools either.
>You don't have a car, so do you change the oil on other people cars or what?
Yes, also boats.
>>
>>38014298
You sound like a handy man. I'm too busy and too intelgent for car work.

I actually could do with an oil changes. I'm no op, I can do that myself (remember easy tasks fine) but I could do with a strong handy man to come and do it for me (remember, too busy too intelgent)

Also, you might service my cock, of course for an added fee?
>>
>>38014360

I only paid 250 to get my brakes replaced, but they were acting up on me anyway so I figured it was time. I honestly don't do car stuff myself because I don't trust myself doing it right the first time without fucking up the car or getting into an accident because I installed something wrong.

Growing vegetables and butchering meat takes a hundred times more knowledge and skills than an oil change. Planting veggies is not that hard, but it still requires knowledge about plants and their cycles, when and how to water them, in which soil to plant. Butchering meat requires knowledge of the animal's parts, which are edible, which is waste, which knife to use, how to proprerly use it, how to sharpen it, correct hygiene, etc.

An oil change requires two bits of knowkedge: Which oil to put in your engine and which ammount. Aside from that, all you need is a ratchet and how to unscrew a plug. Even a child can figure it out on its own.

And while we're on the subject, people should learn how to grow their own veggies for a change. This over-reliance on services anyone can learn by themselves is one of the sources of our complacent over-consumption habits. If we got back to learning how have nothing more than a 5 by 5 plot of dirt on which to grow plants or even how to grow veggies inside in boxes, we wouldn't rely on buying so much, everyone would save money, there would be less pollution and people would be more self-reliable. The fact that most think like you that othets can do it for you is slowly driving people to becoming slaves to said corporations.

>Too intelligent for car work.

Eternal kek. Knowledge in mechanics require intelligence. Anyone can do basic maintenance, but try to do cam adjustement, try to change your timing belt/chain, try to tune a turbo or do a comp analysis, try to troubleshoot a serious engine failure, then tell me if you're "too intelligent" for car work.

The fact that you ignore the complex working of an internal combustion engine because any redneck piece of shit conman can open a garage and pretend to be good at car maintenance has fooled you into believing anyone can be a mechanic is ridiculously funny.
>>
>>38014552
Youre not wrong m8, but it's too late to go back. Corporations own the masses now.
>>
>>38014552
Mechanic by trade 13+ years.
People should really learn to do simple stuff like change oil, lights, wipers, tyre pressures ect.

Brakes ... mmm maybe not. I had a job come in last week where a guy put his pads in backwards
metal side in xD. That shit is really dangerous lol.

Alternatively you could work on your own vehicles and then take it to a mechanic for a check up?
I think it's wise to have an extra spanner on things now and then.

You did the right thing. Don't fuck around with brakes. Next time though, learn to do it yourself. Replacing brakes is literally just
>jack up car
>unscrew nuts
>pull off wheel
>take old brakes off
>put new ones in
>put wheel back on

It's one of those car maintenance things that people assume need a mechanic but anyone with Google can do it.

I'm a mechanic too and yes, there are jobs that require specialist work and garages are necessary, but as you said, some maintenance should be done by yourself. It's not really about car maintenance, it's about being self-reliant. The fact that some people ITT argue in favor of being complacent and take every service for granted is what actually baffles me.
>>
>>38013488
Explain how you come to this state of mind. I'm 20 years old and freak out a lot, but I'm in college and only make $9.75 an hour at a retail, so there's always a reason for me to be broke. I basically now only buy clothes once every 2 weeks at a thrift store and get like maybe one or two shirts from the mall. I quit buying weed because that drained my account real fast, and now only buy food when I'm ABSOLUTELY hungry. I try to depend on my family as much as possible, but I'm really trying to save my money little by little as much as possible now.
