>>
Digital art means digital painting among other things, which is indeed art.
>>
And then OP was never heard from again, as he apparently had completely neglected to consider that digital painting falls under digital art.
>>
yes, it's also my job
>>
>>37930809
>>37931077
Are there techniques in digital painting that are completely unanalogous in the real world, and therefore must be done through a digital medium

or does it really mean
>he's a digitaI "autist" who produces digital "autism"
>>
>>37931122
It may be theoretically possible to do all the same things, but even then it won't look the same.
>>
>>37931168

Same. And I can tell you OP, most digital artists know traditional mediums as well. The fact of the matter is we can paint digitally faster and it's a million times easier to make corrections a client or art director want. Doesn't mean we don't appreciate or respect traditional though, and it's extremely necessary to have a traditional foundation if you want to be a pro.

>Yes.
What are they?
>>
>>37932925
A wealth of different brushes makes producing faster and with strokes they wouldn't have otherwise considered, a pallet with the same qualities leading to colors they wouldn't have considerered, an undo function that is critical to learning/producing because the real life equivalent is painting over your mistakes, and no one wants a part with a nipple of paint protruding from their piece.
And above all, a cleanness in end product that traditional can't compete with, that make digital stand out as industry standard for concept art these days. Oil can come close and usually can replicate light and skin tones more accurately to real life, but as far as sharpness, immediate brightness, texture, all of these things are more immediately done in digital and comes out a way that no serious oil/acrylic painter does/even wants to do. Most of it just comes down to speed. Pic related couldn't look the way it does in traditional mediums.
For the record, I prefer traditional though.

>and no one wants a part with a nipple of paint protruding from their piece

Well clearly that kind of thing isn't frowned upon in fine art, but for modern applications like concept art, animation, different design fields, porn, etc. its all about cleanness, speed, and being able to learn from each other. Digital has taken over because if you want to work in these fields, you'd be fucking yourself over by not learning.
OP's probably just mad he shelled out money for a tablet, tried and failed instead of working on it. And I don't blam you.

Nigger, to all artists of every skill level, they all consider what they do to be easy, just tedious if anything. But you'd never know because your skill level capped in middle school.

Digital art and art in general (same with music, acting, sports) is a profession with massive income inequality favoring the absolute best or most famous, the top 1%

There are thousands of artists making nothing or almost nothing, then there are people like Sakimichan making $300,000+ per year just to draw stuff (she hid her total but it was $25,000/month last time it was visible)

I'm friends with a few working artists(not concept artists) that have toured the world and have gallery showings in major cities, and they are aware of their high skill level and how long it took, but it's just that they got their fundamentals down early and know what they're doing, so therefore its easy to them now.
They have great ego when it comes to their work, but they still think consider themselves to be "hacks".
They work in traditional mediums exclusively btw, and one doesn't even bother with color.
>>37935256
I've literally said I don't work in digital, and prefer traditional. Reading comprehension buddy. Get some.

Looks like the lowest tier is $3/month and she has 4626 patrons = $13,878/month = $166,536/year minimum. That's bare minimum, and her top two patron tiers ($70/mo and $150/mo) are sold out...jesus

Looks like she is a Chinese girl in her 20s or 30s from Toronto. Damn, that bitch is rich
>>
>>37935421
Again, the end goal is different. Typically digital artists are working toward animation or comic/manga styles.
Not many people are pursuing fine art through this. Did you know: the world of art isn't all people striving toward the same goal? Did you know: not everyone is trying to be Rembrandt? Like it's better to draw mechs in digital for obvious reasons, but initial sketches would best be done in pencil first.
You guys are just ignorant as fuck.

How long have you been drawing?
It's a series of learning and applying fundamentals. It should be easy if you're not trying to leap into realism instantly. You should strive for realism, but learn anatomy/framing it and how light works with shadow to get there, then move to color theory.
Anyone can draw, it just takes time to learn the basics. Some grasp it faster than others though. Most great artists of the past were on their way to mastery by the time they were 18, because they learned under ateliers. You can do it though.
>>
Yall couldn't get more rekt, goddamn.

Yes. Why are you so stupid to not realize that in the first place?

>Why are you so stupid to not realize that in the first place?
I am a programmer, and I don't think there is anything special about computers.
What are those techniques?
>>
>>37932925
undo
redo
cut
copy
paste

These alone make digital art a completely different process.
>>
>>37936855
Is it made better, or just easier?
>>
>>37936896
Neither. It's impossible to do those without a computer.
>>
>>37936896
Arguably both, but that's not the point. It's a fundamentally different process.
>>
>>37937101

I had a lot of fun posting this.
>>

Stop being an idiot. If you are programmer (which I doubt at this point) you know there is no comparison between these actions and their traditional equivalent. There is no perfect undo/redo with real paint.
