I understand why the fantasy of being visited by a succubus could be an alluring one. The thing about the succubus myth is that, traditionally, it's nightmarish rather than erotic. There's a reason why the succubus was so often referred to as a Night Hag. It's features are warped, its body a grotesque form barely similar enough to an actual woman's to elicit an erection. Our victim may earnestly want to feel another's skin against his, but the clammy feel of the scales of the thing raping him, shedding the sickly green light of rot and foxfire, are nothing but a blasphemy against his very human desires. Eventually he's jolted from his terrible reverie, ejaculating and vomiting simultaneously.

There's something chilling about the myth of the succubus. Neither Nature nor God considers the unwanted man worthy of an actual mate, and so Hell offers a surrogate. Having condescended to do so, it provides a monster. Not some diabolic vixen, but a ghoul just as disgusting as the repulsive man she fucks in the dead of night while both Father God and Mother Nature sleep soundly, dreaming of their beautiful Creation.

Hierogamy is that fantasy by which a man and a woman use the very human pleasure of sex to imagine they're divine. The phantasm of the succubus' embrace teaches the undesirable man that humanity, let alone divinity, is something he has no right to hope for.
