When I had a shitty laptop I played older games like half life 1. I'm sure most 2d games would work fine just check out the specs first they're usually really low though.

For gaming go retro. Things like snes emulators run on ancient toasters. Also Dosbox.

Try cloud gaming. I am able to run gta5 60fps on a potato laptop

if you can get behind absolute shit graphics and quite a learning curve, get yourself dwarf fortress. I had a shit tier celeron lenovo laptop and for the entire duration I used to play pokemon, castlevania and dwarf fortress. mostly the latter. I can't stress how deep the game gets, I honestly still have it and I get my fun from time to time just making a colony and seeing it how It crumbles by some weird ass monster.
