Ask a 23 year old new high school math teacher anything.
>>37782893
do you like cicadas
why did you think it was a good idea to learn a lot of math and then use it in lowest earning math field?
>>37782921
In short the people in the math and physics field creeped me out. Not the type of people I would have wanted to work with. I know not all people in STEM are like that but the it seemed like everyone is where I live. Plus I enjoy teaching.
>>37782893
how can i become good at math if im so fucking retarded?
any big titty sluts that you fap to after work?
What do you teach mostly?
>>37783050
Study and practice like everything else.
>>37782893
How much hope for the future have you lost?
>>37783061
Only once, and that was because I was having a fight with my girlfriend.
>>37783070
Algebra
>>37783080
I try not to think about it. I focus on the good kids and thankfully that's most of my students.
>>37782962
Creeped you out?how?
Also why become a teacher of all things?
>>37782893
>he chooses to do math for 30+ years straight
are you a fucking masochist
>>37782893
got any hot students?
>>37782893
I'm majoring in math starting this fall, any tips on how to teach math at a university. I don't want to go for a PhD but decided that I will do a master's in applied mathematics.
Is that good enough to teach at a university??
>>37783107
Socially awkward people, people that you wouldn't want to be close to, sometimes because of the smell (no joke). I just didn't feel comfortable talking with them. Both my parents where teachers so maybe that has something to do with it. I decided to be a teacher because the job is never boring and always entertaining, that's big for me. Money not so much.
>>37783114
I like to do and teach math.
>>37783139
I did tutoring at my university and enjoyed it. Most math teachers in college are themselves math students getting masters and such, they just teach math on the side for extra cash. Stick to a high level math field and you will probably be asked to teach some starting level math class. Or just enter the education field with a focus on math.
>>37783123
Maybe one or two. Don't really think about them that way.
>>37782893
>Ask a 23 year old new high school math teacher anything.
Why hasn't the Riemann hypothesis been solved yet?
>>37782893
I hope you show the proofs to your students instead of showing them 'shortcuts' and having them stamp-collect
>>37784020
You don't know what the Riemann hypothesis is. Out of all the pointless things for you to google this one is quite high on the list.
>>37782893
What are the grades of your favorite students?
Do you give your favorite students a few extra points?
>>37784078
>Out of all the pointless things for you to google this one is quite high on the list.
I hope that's not how you're going to answer your student's questions.
>>37784188
Bs and As, and a few Cs. and I usually give extra credit points on exams.
>>37782921
Being a teacher is pretty sweet if you teach at a majority white school.
>summers off
>medical/dental
>easy 50k just reading from a book
If I didn't hate people who refused to learn so much I'd be a teacher
>>37783226
Found the fag - and it's OP. Who would have guessed?
>>37782893
>only math professor I had after Calculus went crazy and the courts took her kids away from her
I'm sure you're not like the other girls...
>>37782893
Do you have any genius or prodigy students? Any robot like kids? Any loners?
>>37784201
I shove my motherfucking dick down my students' throats if they are this annoying.
If you were here asking me about pointless shit like this I'd do the same and facefuck you.
>>37784307
have a genius yes, not sure about robots, and 3 loners.
>>37784323
Ask a supposed math teacher about one of the greatest unsolved math problems
>I shove my motherfucking dick down my students' throats if they are this annoying. If you were here asking me about pointless shit like this I'd do the same and facefuck you.
And math/science nerds wonder why people don't like them
>>37784325
What do you do to help the dumber kids? How stupid are the dumb kids.
>>37782893
how much is depression^2+suicidal toughts?
>>37784415
Stop thinking that that person is me. I never answered the question in the first place.
>>37784455
I offer tutoring time in lunch and after school for the struggling kids. They aren't really dumb, they just never got a good education in the first place so they have to do allot of catching up.
>>37784323
lol ok tuff guy
>>37782893
How are you a high school teacher at 23 when i graduated high school at 22?
The worst part is that I have a jack-off-worthy IQ and I still blew it.
>>37784502
>allot
I hope you're teaching high school in fucking Somalia. You didn't get a good education either.
>>37784738
Started college at 19. graduated with a bachelors after 4 years, got a job.
>>37784738
>tfw 21 and only starting college this fall
Do you ever have students that disappoint you because they aren't giving full effort?
>>37784856
Yes, there are plenty of students like that. Getting them to put in effort is the hardest part of the job I would say.
>>37782893
How come i could never learn math? no matter how much i got beaten i couldn't pick it up
Why are math teachers so fucking terrible at teaching? Why did I have to teach myself the entire fucking AB Calc book because my teacher was an incompetent fuck? I mean, I did well in the class, but no thanks to my teacher.
>>37784929
Not sure what to tell you. I've dealt with similar students that say the same thing and they improved after allot of tutoring time. Having said that it is true some students master the material faster than others and some types of learning work better than others depending on the student. Some students need little study and practice, some students need allot.
How do you find the time to play comfy games like Persona 5?
>>37784987
STOP SAYING "ALLOT"
YOU ARE A TEACHER, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SMARTER THAN ME.
I don't want to think about how the retarded teach the brilliant.
>>37784982
College math teachers are not usually good teachers. They are math people working as a teacher for extra cash on the side. They know math but they don't know how to teach. I also had to teach myself math throughout my college years.
>>37785018
This was in my senior year of high school, it was an AP class.
>>37784847
Buddy I'm 22 going for a math major... So I know the feels.
>>37785017
>YOU ARE A TEACHER, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SMARTER THAN ME.
Lmao, if you think teachers are smart.
Education is basically just a bunch of retards getting paid 60k to pretend to teach a bunch of other retards. It's a government jobs program for teachers.
>>37785017
If something so minor bothers you so much you need to see someone. Just because I'm a teacher doesn't mean that I always have to adhere to academic language or grammar. If you where the principal I wouldn't be using 'allot' when communicating with you. Outside of my professional career I talk and communicate how I want to, and that includes using "allot" instead of "a lot"
>>37785075
Well then I'm not sure what to tell you. There are lots of bad teachers out there, perhaps even more so in the math field.
>>37785017
Those who can't do, teach. Especially pre-university, that entire system is more for free babysitting than education.
>>37785004
I try to not leave any work for the weekends. Also at the school I teach I have Fridays free to grade and prepare lesson plans.
>>37785406
What does a lesson plan consist of? Do you base it off a text book? How long does it take to make?
Do you ever strike a conversation with a pupil?
How do you manage to have a job requiring talking for hours to people constantly judging you
>>37782893
What are the black students like compared to your white ones?
>>37785487
A lesson plan consists of the material I want the students to learn and how they are going to learn it. Sometimes I follow the texbook, sometimes I just use some of the problems on the texbook, sometimes I just do my own thing and ignore the texbook. Sometimes it takes a few hours to make, sometimes a few days. It depends on allot of things.
Every now and then I engage in good math conversations with students. A few of my good students like to learn higher level math so I teach them when I have the free time.
>>37785515
I learned to ignore what my students think of me a long time ago. I'm their teacher before anything else. People will always judge other people.
>>37785548
In my experience the black girls are excelling students, but usually drama makers. The black guys never put in effort. I get along with them well but I can't pass them if they don't try.
>>37782893
What is your gender?
Very important!
>>37782893
What is the area like where you teach in? Hood, suburbs or what?
>>37785717
I'm a male. This original comment thing is quite annoying.
>>37785749
Wouldn't say the hood but lots of Mexicans. I teach in a charter high school however so I get good students that want to be there for the most part. Definitely in the poorer part of town.
>>37782893
>high school math teacher
>23
Why did you become a maths teacher so young? Like right after college did you just want to get straight back into school?
>>37785826
I want to start making money and begin my career. Getting my own place is a big incentive.
>>37782893
Ever seen a student you were attracted to? I know it's happened. I've seen teachers in my school look down the shirts of some of the female students.
>>37785922
Hasn't happen to me yet. There was a girl that I got along with well and she had big breast, but I didn't think about her that way. Lots of girls dress inappropriately so you learn to tune it out.
Where? I'd be curious to know.
Also; does .9repeating equal one in standard arithmetic? Need to settle an argument.
>>37785975
Where I work? The the state is NM.
and .9 repeating does equal 1, although I personally never did like those logical rounding in mathematics. Obviously .9 repeating is not 1 but for practical and logical purposes it is.
How long does it take you to prove the quadratic formula?
>>37784847
I'm 24 and about to start Uni as barely a sophomore. 21 is fucking nothing dude.
>>37786088
That depends on the student. It would take probably a hole class for my students to understand it. The quadratic formula alone is a subject for an entire week.
>>37782893
What's 1+1?
I kid I'm a fellow mathfag.
>>37782962
>>37783162
I genuinely laughed my ass off. You're right on the math physics field cringefuckingfest.
>>37782893
What up, mulato?
