I'm hoping you've been applying for entry level jobs and listed the degree that you got as one that is or can be generally worthless (gender studies, English, psychology, etc.). That way they'll probably get the idea that you went in on a degree such as that and now can't pull any other jobs, so they probably won't care to look into it anymore.
