I hated closing shifts because people were always coming in at the last fucking second and I wasn't allowed to turn them away and they acted entitled about it. I always got home 45 minutes to an hour later than I should have. No big deal except I always had to open the next day so my time was more valuable than the extra bit of pay. If it wasn't for that, then yea I agree with you, they are nicer to work and usually have better co-workers.

It was insufferable for the 2 months I was there and once they started making me close I called it quits. The lumber department is super shit to close.

Closing sucks because you have a shitton of stuff to do like get the 100lb of trash from every trashcan thrown out. Have to clean a bunch of shit. All the while, you have to keep coming back to the front to fetch organic vinegar for some 80 year old hag that yells at you cuz her avocados were bagged upside down or some shit.

OK, in all honestly it is because a lot of it is bitch work like cleaning and securing the shop as opposed to opening or midday where you literally just show up and dick around.

Think about it, I used to work in a teashop and closing meant cleaning every fucking thing, taking out the trash, and making sure everything was ready for the next day. Then the opening person comes in and just sets everything up and hangs out.

If I had a preference I'd say midday. Walk in with no responsibilities. Do your job. Leave with no responsibilities.
