However, there are plenty of robots on here who crave physical affection and social satisfaction, and being denied that makes them unhappy. For as long as I've been alive this has been my life, basically. Being holed up in a computer researching topics of interest. Only I don't usually cycle between them and these obsessions tend to last for at least a year if not more (I try to vary into different subjects if I can since I don't usually develop them intentionally).

I had an obsession with dinosaurs and sharks that lasted for the better part of my childhood, and I even almost made a career out of it. I even wrote a book on the subject of dinosaurs and went to tv shows to talk about it (idk I guess people thought it was cute that a 8 year old was reciting obscure facts about sharks like he was a professor on the subject). That only stopped because I got bullied hard for it (something I'm actually thankful for), it was leading me nowhere (the only people that care about facts regarding sharks and dinosaurs are children and I hate dealing with kids) and I developed other interests. Still, I made some good money out of it and at least I have something to show for it.

I've recently broken off my JoJo obsession which lasted for two years and now I'm in an obsession related to pulp/comic book subjects. I'm trying to work these obsessions into my desire to become a filmmaker so I can use them for something productive. And I think it's something everyone here could try too. Try and turn your autistic obsession into something useful.
