Well I think people from around the world are signing up for social media, but it is losing it's personal quality. Back in 2009-2011, Facebook had a way more personal quality to it. People posted more personal pictures, posted more about what is going on in their personal lives ect. ect.

After having to fap to my imagination and yearbook photos as a kid, I can get off on a profile pic of a girl in a winter coat. Practically every girl has a Facebook, so it's my backup.

Facebook is good for a few things - knowing what's going on locally (assuming you have friends who do things), making pages for art or small business type shit and promoting it, and finding groups for meming about your interests. I just unfollow boring people who blog their lives and people who post political garbage but stay friends with them. Also if you travel it's pretty much the only thing everyone uses.

Honestly the utility of any social media is dependent on the quality of the connections you've made. So /r9k/ saying it sucks is a bit lol.

i use facebook and instagram almost exclusively to know what's going on in the music and art scene in my town and talk to my mom

so i don't really see all the bad stuff

facebook are doing more public advertisements now to encourage people to share more because less people are making personal posts and it hurts them financially
