To be honest, you don't have to use virus protection on your computer or phone if you exercise common sense, only downloading reputable apps.

However, if you're planning on pirating software, an antivirus is an excellent failsafe. This goes for either phone or pc.

Android always asks permission before making changes same with Windows from 7 on

I think the only way you get viruses is from installing them yourself
