Usually minimum-wage jobs and close to it are on a tight schedule and they only have so many hours to give out, so if you even come in 6 minutes early and leave 6 minutes later, that's an hour per week. It pads your paycheck but pisses off your employer because that means there's less hours to go around. You will get 5 hour workweeks, not a promotion.
