What do you think of the 2007 phenomenon, robots? It's often said on multiple boards to be the one year it all went wrong. Was 2006 the last year to feel "normal"?
>>
It's literally just a meme.

I think it's because people generally associate happier memories with the early-mid 2000s and more negative memories with the late 2000s and 2010s. Since 2007 was the first year of the late-2000s, this is, in their mind, the year it started going downhill.
>>
2007 is the year the first iPhone came out. Facebook went public the year prior.

It's not hard to make the connection there.
>>
This is just a small thing related to it, but I got my first cell phone in 2006. It was a flip phone. A year later everyone else had the newer types of phones on campus. I still have my flip phone since no one really calls it so its still pretty new looking. But what I mean is, that was when I started noticing a lot of "regular" people caring a lot about the internet and social media and stuff.

Can you believe it's only been 10 years and people's brains have been fried permanently by that shit and no one even remembers how it was to live a normal human life? It's not like it took 5 generations of indoctrination or anything.
>>
I'd say things after 2008 took a different feel but 2011 was when it all went to hell
>>
I liked 2013 for some reason. That was the last good year.
>>
>>37314910

The thing is, we did it to ourselves. Now you're seen as an unemployable, creepy weirdo of you don't have a Facebook you use regularly and everything has some kind of required smart phone integration now. You HAVE to be plugged in or you'll be cast out for not following the herd.

.............and what is their evidence for that?

2007 was the beginning of it all going downhill, 2008 the economic crisis and 2011 was just the final nail in the coffin.
>>
>>37314970
Me too! 2013 was definitely a highlight of my life, it was too comfy.
>>
>>37314696
It's the year the Great Recession hit and we really haven't pulled out of it completely yet despite the fudged bls numbers.

And we're heading straight for the next one with China's housing and stock bubble and America deregulating the banks and corporations that started the 2007/2008 crisis. The ride never ends anon.

No, things were fine up until 2010 when reddit found this place and started taking memes from here to post on 9gag.

Ive been here for somewhere around 13 years now.
And i see newfags talk about oldfags with reverence and about the legendary hivemind from the early 2000's.
Being here this long hasnt been an achievement, ill let all you know right now, it means ive that im the biggest loser out of all you.
Its been fun sure, but if your new here you need to get out now.
Seriously you may think to yourself
>oh shut up faggot i can leave whenever i want
No man, this place is an addiction, and worse than that its already been a dead site for years, while reddit and tumblr dances on its grave.
You may find threads once in a while where you laugh your ass off, "oh THIS is why i browse here everyday wasting my life, to find that thread of the month!!"

Its how ive lived my life, now this is just what some of us are meant for, but you guys are young, just leave while you can still make something of your life.

I wonder how old the people who feel that way are. I'm a 1987bot and I loved the late 2000s deeply, way more than the early and mid 2000s. 2007, 2008, and 2009 almost made that shitty decade worth it.

I remember a really blatant shift from when everything seemed normal to when things seemed all futuristic when I was younger. I can't remember what year it was though

I don't get why some people define the quality of a year by the state of the world, rather than their own personal lives. The '90s were pretty awful for me despite the good economy, and the 2007-2010 range was special to me despite the shit economy. It seems like things like interpersonal relationships and the health of your relationships with family and friends should carry the biggest weight, not economic factors or societal trends.

D&P was the first mainline game to be released while I was already a fan of pokemon. I was just a kid. I remember one specific time I was at the park on a swing being so excited about its imminent release. It was like a crisp spring evening, with the sunkist sunset and everything. It was almost as if pokemon was real and I was about to get a pokemon or something

>ywn ever be a kid ever again
These are some suicidal feels you've just reminded me of.

Facebook isn't even the thing anymore, I just started using it and trying to connect to people at university and people always tell me "I never use facebook anymore, only snapchat"

I can barely learn the idiosyncracies of one social media shitfest let alone four or five. I just want to go back to the old days before this, the memories of which are fading fast in my mind.
>>
2006 was the last year I considered myself part of society, even though I've always been somewhat autistic.
>>
>>37316793
26 so pretty much been in line with Pokemon game releases since gold and silver I definitely remember when golden and silver came out I bought it around 2000

I will never get those types of Memories Back obviously cuz I'm an adult now but it was an amazing time and I will never forget those games

2007 was when I had heard about 4chan, and at the time I was a normie. It's when "lolcats" started to get out and get popularized by normies, also I believe "cancer killing /b/" came about that time
>>
2006 was the year everything went wrong. it's like this basically everywhere on the internet -- there is pre-2006 and post-2006, 2006 was the long transition from the old internet to the new internet.

Was 24 when I found 4chan in 2007. I miss when you see it you shit bricks, creepy pasta, good ylyl, and CP threads on Christmas day the most. The last lulztastic thing 4can did was the hottest teen troll in 2012 imo.

I don't think the year 2007 was any special turning point. I think it just happens to more or less coincide with the coming of age of the majority of people on this board.
