I don't think it's worth it in regards to a job. But having mechanical knowledge is part of being a man I think.

I grew up as a NEET and entirely disdained both sports fags and car fags in my late teens, early 20's. Thing is, women expect you to be able to fix their car. And when you can't do it, you suddenly seem beta AF.

Having to outsource your car repairs to mechanics or the guy down the street makes you a massive cuck of a man, like a man that can't mow their own lawn. Not being able to fix your car is one of the most beta things you can do.

When a girl says to you "Anon, the electric window in my car won't wind down" and you can fix that shit with a $20 piece from the wreckers and a butter knife, like some modern day Macgyver, suddenly you're god tier Alpha in their eyes.

I just thought I should add, you seem a little like me. I could build my own PC from a very early age but I knew jack shit about cars. Turns out cars are way easier. All you need for most of it is a socket set, a shifter and a screw driver and a jack. Sure there's some parts you need specialised tools for, but you can basically take an entire car apart with just that stuff. It's easier than you think.

Since when was building a pc difficult? Shit takes less than an hour to put together, even a mentally retarded 5 year old can put a cpu into a one-way slot and snap a fan on top of it.

You'd probably not be able to even disassemble a car interior the correct way.

It's hit or miss, you either get stuck in a shitty shop and get paid a pittance or you work in a decent one and make a good amount.
The only real way to make money on it is to own your own shop though and that comes with its own hassles.

In case you're actually serious about turboing, try getting your hands on cheap used or discarded bits, because for some reason costs tend to run away like hell. Sis had a R34 GT-T for a while, we just figured we'd put in a slightly bigger turbo, new ecu, injectors, IC, fuel pump, radiator, after mapping it was almost double the cost, and then the head gasket popped and the head warped a little too.
