Getting admitted to psych ward in 29 hours. Been there once

Ive been to several wards, short-term though for various suicide attempts and mutilations. Its not like the movies, its just pure boredom and maybe you'll make an acquaintance to play cards with.

Depends what you're in for: suicide attempt is minimum 3 days, psychotic episodes usually land you in for longer

Every psych ward I've been to have never allowed me to keep my phone and the wall outlets were all blocked to keep people from trying to electrocute themselves. The best you'll get is some TV time and some magazines. And they can't make you get out of bed, though they will try.

I work on an acute adult psych ward in the UK.

Can give advice but would be location specific. Know a fair bit about the MHA etc.

3 days, are you serious? When I was in the locked section (psychosis)they held me for a month and I got out ONLY because my mother signed some bullet to let me out.

I dont even know what my psychiatrist told them this time to get me admitted. I just told her mother is kicking me out and I just can't get a job and be around people and that i dont want to starve on the streets.

Fuck the group "therapy" senpai.

And that's weird that they didn't let you keep a phone. The closed off section I was in with aggressors and crims? The chads walked around with phones playing music and porn. (They didn't allow me to have phone though)

I got admitted once for 2 weeks for trying to commit suicide (but failing and ending up in a 2 day coma instead).

The first day was terrible, but that was mostly because after waking up in a hospital I was immediately driven to a mental hospital and I didn't even know what happened or where I am or what's going on. You're kept in a special 24-hour monitoring ward for the first day. If you're good they'll transfer you to a better ward.

It's boring as hell. You wake up, you get some pills and then immediately you go eat breakfast. Then you have to figure out a way to amuse yourself for the next 5 hours (you're only allowed to go outside if a doctor approves it, so good luck). Then you get some more pills and then head off to lunch, after which you're bored out of your mind for another 5 hours. At around 7PM you get your last dose of pills for the day and then you eat dinner.

I basically did this for 2 weeks straight. Thankfully I had somebody smuggle my phone in.

Well since you're sound enough of mind to decide whether you're going to be a violent trouble maker or voluntarily participate it sounds like you're more suited for prison or jail than a psych ward.
You should probably try to get with the program and straighten your shit out. You have just as many problems as most other normal people the point of participating in that is to help you figure out how to deal with your problems more effectively. It may not be perfect it's not specifically just made for you in mind so some of it may seem like bullshit. Try talking to the staff and asking them those questions you're asking here. That's practically the entire point of you even going, it's not just to warehouse you like it's a prison.

Here is what it is like on a ward I know:

18 patients, mixed ward (male and female). Any flirting/sexual contact gets you moves to a single sex ward.

Locked, but leave is granted by the psychiatrist if you are improving

Group activities, but voluntary

Can keep mobile phone or tablet

Privileges such as leave or mobile phone are taken away for violence/shitty behaviour

Length of stay depends on how unwell you are/your risk to yourself or others

I went into my first psych ward stay thinking there will be a cute girl or two.
There weren't.
Maybe I could sneak off and get into some mischief.
Get tackled and lose tv privilege.
Maybe my roommate will be a cool guy?
He shit himself on christmas fucking day forcing me to sleep in the living area.

My advice to you is to lie. Lie to every doctor, nurse, who ever. Tell them you're starting to feel better. You don't have to make actual progress. Just pretend and put on your happy face. Your biggest obstacle will be fapping. You'll come to find its fucking near impossible in a psych ward shower with no porn or a titty nearby.

Last time i was locked up for a month in 3 medium sized rooms with about 40 men. Most of them small time criminals. A pimp. A murderer. Literal potato....

But MORE improtantly, how the fuck will i get on disability bux if i act OK and they dont write inaptus in my release papers?

I keep thinking about a way to not stay there for more than 2 months BUT get on disability and released.

Any tips? Also they injected me with so much shit i couldnt even think, much less be horny or anything. Fapped once over the month. Took me like 2 hours and definitely wasnt worth it.
