I was going to join the AF but the recruiters hit their quarterly quota within the first 2 weeks so they just never showed up to work. After 3 weeks of going there every day I walked into the Navy recruiter's office down the hall and the look in their eyes was primal - like they were animals who haven't had food in days.

When I'm in the recruiting office the recruiter and some other sergeants and some of the guys signing up with me are all joking around and making boring comments about sex or lol virgin or whatever

I don't like their sense of humor. It's so bland and degenerate but I'm afraid if I'm a quiet loner I will get singled out as the weirdo like I always do.

You better get them up. Get your one. Once you get your one pull up, keep doing that one pull up every few hours until the number goes up. Once you get like 6 start recon ron. I started at zero, shipped to boot doing 11 and was at 19 by second phase of recruit training. It just takes a little dedication.

Enlisted in the Navy at 16, as a Master at Arms (MA) boot camp at Great Lakes, A school at Lackland AFB, then C school, then deployment to the fleet, first assignment was aboard a Carrier, been on a Fast Frigate and a submarine, decided I liked ship duty so I never rotated ashore except for training, did my 20 and am now in the reserves, got a job in a desert city (time for a change) as a policeman, was given credit for my 20 in the military and have 2 more years and I can retire and get rehired, so 5 years of pay is all going to buy into my pension, intend to stay in the reserves for 20 and fully retire at 56 with 40 years served, will also retire from the police and then get a high paying, easy head of security job at a casino, I am currently an E-7 (Senior Chief).

So how I did it was I did my max set of push ups, waited 30 seconds, then did one less each time till I got to zero. I did this every night along with assisted pull ups and I eventually got my one. Get a decent number of underhand pull ups before u change to over hands.

I should mention in order to be considered for a DH your shore command will be prototype instructor - which is practically sea duty all over again. You'll have to requalify everything on a different platform

Then if you've been hotshit the entire time you've been in you'll be considered for DH, then you have to requalify everything on your new boat AGAIN, as well as the DH stuff.

I honestly wouldn't be planning out your entire career when you haven't even gotten in yet.

The first female to graduate ITB graduated as an 0341(Mortarman) about 2 months ago. There is not any others to my knowledge. I shipped to bootcamp with a girl that wanted infantry but is going pog for two years so she has more time to prepare. If you're motivated and it's truly something you want then you can make it happen. Keep in mind that if you cannot perform in the infantry you risk the lives of the Marines you are serving with. I cannot stress that enough. Pull ups is more for bootcamp though, in ITB all they care about is who can hump.

I joined with the sole intention of trying to prove I was much more than a weaboo dork. I gave up anime, video games, lost weight, got in shape, broke away from everything I was to become a new man. Someone my little brothers could look up to and my older brothers could respect.

I could change myself as much as I wanted, but it never occurred to me I could never change the attitude of my family. After spending a year missing them and wallowing in sadness I came back on Christmas vacation. They refused to pick me up from the airport, made me sit at the kids table, made a lot of gay navy jokes, my sister in law made fun of me for still being a virgin at age 18. They called me a coward for quitting my civilian job and joining the military. I spent every day in my room, alone and drunk after that.

Blocked everyone on Facebook and got a new phone. Haven't talked to them in years. I feel so alone now, my life is shitty. I was homeschooled so I have 0 social skills and I don't know if I ever will.
