Do neurotypicals actually feel warm and welcomed when retail staff say "Hi How are you doing" every time you walk past one of them in the store?
my autism makes me debate ignoring them or muttering a hi how are you back at them
>>36659514
Short answer, sometimes they do. Most of the time though they don't really care and some flat out ignore you.

"Hello, how are you?"
>how are you?
What a fucking disingenuous greeting. I hate that this is considered a normal thing to say
>>36659514
I have never actually seen a greeter. Like, anywhere. Maitre d's, people who seat you, yea, but never someone who's job it is to simply greet you and offer no other purpose. Pretty sure it's just a position so that Walmart can keep the title of "Largest employer of senior citizens". Pretty sure they get some sort of kickbacks from the AARP or something for that.

Sometimes I imagine wat their head what look like on a pike covered in peanut butter
>>36659514
i just walk past say nothing or stand and stare att them untill they walk away cus the figure im retarded (not far from truth)
It's not to welcome you, it's informing you that staff have seen your face and are aware of your presence. This deters shoplifting and robbery.
The same way you sometimes see CCTV feeds displayed at the entrance.
I often wonder if normies actually enjoy all of these expected social norms they insist on.
I don't want to be greeted when I go to the store.
Once when I was going through the checkout, I saw a sticker on the employee's monitor saying "engage in conversation with customers". I don't want conversation from the cashier, especially not if it's forced.
But do other people?
Are there normies who are genuinely glad to have the cashier making small talk with them?
When I go to work on Mondays, people always ask how my weekend was.
Do they really care? Are they actually interested in what I did?
I can't imagine they are.
I know I'm certainly not interested in what they did on the weekend, I couldn't care any less.
But of course, it's expected that I pretend to care, ask them what they did and then pretend I care while they tell me.
Surely they don't actually give a shit.
It would go some way towards explaining why they're always so happy and energetic, I probably would be too if I got a dopamine rush from hearing about what my boring co-worker did on the weekend.

>REEEEEEEEE WHY DOES NO ONE ACTUALLY CARE HOW I AM
lmfao
>>36660252
>Are there normies who are genuinely glad to have the cashier making small talk with them?
Only if you think normies can be lonely then yes. Especially old people. Fucking old people can never shut the fuck up.
>Do they really care? Are they actually interested in what I did?
No. Nobody cares about your weekend. They're just being polite and trying to relate to you or open a door to talk about their weekend.
>It would go some way towards explaining why they're always so happy and energetic
They're happy because they're not a self-hating virgin. They go out and do things and have fun. You sit at home and complain about people asking you questions at work and having cashiers talk to you.

>They go out and do things and have fun.
I would, but there are people everywhere.
>>36659514
I think that's just for sad lonely old people and shut-ins.
>>36659644
Yea, most stores don't have "greeter" employees, but they can make all their employees stop and make forceful eye contact and say hi how are you, need help with anything, etc. I went into a CVS just to buy lottery tickets from the vending machine today and 4 times I got that.
>>36659514
No. Only idiots don't know that they were put there to ID problematic shoppers. They used to have a few pictures of the kids, or adults, faces to watch out for to call the cops on, if they came back to shoplift. That's why they are there. Having a camera in my face is an accusation that I resent. What if I look like the guy they are looking for? I get tackled by their fake cops, dragged into a room imprisoned until the cops arrive? Makes me only use shitty smaller stores.
>>36660436
Get over it. Just ignore them like they ignore you
>>36660542
>like they ignore you
They don't, that's the problem.
>>36659514
It's just a way to give a job to old folks who've lost their meaning in life, and think that standing in a blue vest in the tackiest store on earth will make up for it.
> Most Robots will hold this job in their lives.
>>36660552
>Everyone pays attention to me, looks at me and talks to me
No they don't. Stop lying.
