no idea who the fuck the tyler guy is but dylan and eric were both into doom. they said their massacre was gonna be "just like doom." eric (i think) even released a few wads before he 9/11ed his classmates, they're still around and aren't very good (even by 90s wad standards)

this was why doom came under public scrutiny after columbine. doomworld literally wrote and released some kind of "doom isn't the problem here" message to the media, which still might be on their website somewhere. it wasn't very good.

one of the better results of that brief media panic was that it led a lot of christian moms to decide that doom was satanic/a gateway towards evil when, if you actually think about it, doom is ideologically SUPER christian: you play as a man who attempts to save the whole of humanity by killing literal demons from hell. in e3 you're literally effecting the triumph of man over satan.
