Actually from 2007 to 2013 this place was my favourite site on the internet. I railed against reddit and would go on 4chan at least once a day. Now I might visit this place once a month and I visit reddit every day and even participate very actively in subs for niche interests of mine.

This place got stale, but worst of all it's for the reasons that drew me to it in the first place. The limited life of discussions and anonymised userbase can lead to some amazing creativity and also a willingness to have conversations far outside the norm. But in the end the ephemerality of communication here ended up making most discussion worthless and the only way to keep a convo going is to stake out ridiculous extremes of conversation without the burden of ever rationally defending them.

Even as a hyper SJW Christian Communist I used to love this place for its ironic sneer at public holy cows and authority. Now its just begun to take itself far too seriously, with a userbase that are full on unironic, pathetic Nazi trash. And I'm not talking Spengler or D'Annunzio Nazi trash, whose ideas you can legitimately have an interesting debate about even if they need to be bashed. I'm talking Nazi trash whose ideas about the world come from image macros with the word "cummies" all over them.

I still thank this site for the views, attitude and humour its given me but it's pretty much stale garbage with a user base of bitter fucks these days (and not the fun kind)

I vastly prefer reddit, even if there are plenty of things to dislike about it. You guys failed me ;_;.
