>tfw just want to live in a big city like Tokyo or New York and roam the streets every day. Maybe have a little shop somewhere that my gf would work in and I would manage, with some stupid hipster exotic good or something so that I'm finally part of society in some way.
Why is my dream so unachievable, /r9k/? Except for the gf part obviously.
Where would you live if you could, and how?
I'm getting way too old to even have dreams anymore, there's nothing in my life anymore. I wish I could just up and go somewhere else and be someone else.
Please help.

I wanna live in vancover

Get a gob, move to said city.First step done.
>>36586275
just do it anon
it isn't nearly unnattainable
>>36586275
That sounds comfy as fuck.
My dream is to own a small, cozy movie theater in a snowy mountain town (think Vail, Colorado but less touristy). I help run the theater and live above it in a one-bedroom apartment with a window.
I'd like to have a gf as well.
I can be your gf (only if you're cute and don't smell who is willing to put up with a mentally ill girl)
>>36586275
the city sucks bro, trust me
>>36586275
It's not unachievable, but let me tell you from experience, that you will never feel more isolated than in a giant crowd in a bright lit street in an active part of town. Walking past countless young couples, large groups of friends, old married couples and everyone else walking around all paired and grouped up while you're alone is soul-crushing. Combined with the knowledge that all around you, every weekend, there are countless bars, parties, and clubs popping off where normal people are having fun, meeting each other, developing relationships, and having sex while you sit on your computer sends you spiraling deeper.
I'm so glad I moved to the middle of nowhere. I understand that if you grew up in nowhere you romanticize the big city, but holy fuck it's the loner/shy guy's worst nightmare being surrounded by teeming millions yet totally isolated.

Yes, we should all just dig a hole in the ground and lie in it.
>>36586504
That's actually why I moved to the city. I like seeing other people be happy instead of just staring out into the backwoods of my old place. Makes me think I might have a chance of being normal someday.

>Why is my dream so unachievable, /r9k/? Except for the gf part obviously.
Since you're here the gf part is unachievable aswell.
>>36586583
Sorry, that's what I meant, that for this part it was obvious why.
>>36586320
>>36586350
There are no such cities in my country, the biggest is barely over a million.
>>36586375
Wouldn't the constant presence of the exact same people grate on you after a while though? Living above your business is a nice concept, I like that.
>>36586275
>roam the streets every day
i live in new york
this gets boring after about week 2
>>36586275
Having lived all my life inParisI don't understand why anyone would want to live in a big city. It's noisy, expensive, polluted, and lonely.
Living in the slums of Caracas would be pretty chill
>>36588423
You know why it's like that, and you know that people don't idealize those kinds of big cities.
>>36586275
any non dangerous city where I could walk at night without being worry of rapist, killers and robbers. Singapore or anywhere in Worst Korea/Japan sounds nice
>>36588476
>that people don't idealize those kinds of big cities.
You mean that people don't know that it's the only kind of big city that exists and the big cities in their fantasies don't exist yet? Or something.
I think they watched too many animus and think big cities are comfy and eco friendly like academy city in raildex or something.

>tfw didnt grow up in the big city going to some back alley as a cool little hideout with your delinquent friends
>tfw didnt grow up on the countryside and had your first kiss by the pond with the qt neighbor who was your only other neighbor for at least a mile around
>tfw grew up in the suburbs, the most fucking boring place in existence
>>36588552
Suburbs aren't boring. You're boring. My friends and I would always meet up, go find creeks and shit to get muddy in and then bike back home
>>36588680
Suburbs destroy the environment what the fuck are you talking about.
>>36589124
You know you can bike places right? Is it that too hard for a fat cunt?
>tfw live in a village of 400 ppl
>it is comfy but would rather live in a city of about 15k
grass is greener on the otherside blah blah fat kunts
I've always lived right outside of NY. It doesn't seem all that great to me. I just want to move to LA.
>>36586275
I want to live in NYC so fucking bad and I'm right next to it. I'm thinking of just packing up and going I mean people do that right.
Is this thread a joke? what i wouldn't give to live a comfy farm life.
And here i am in a commieblock on 4chan
>>36591166
Farm life isn't comfy. And you tend to have to interact with your neighbours.
>>36591187
