10 years since my life started going downhill.

I think I hit bottom last year and now can slowly crawl back up again.

I don;t know why I come here anymore, not only is the board shit but I can't related to anyone under the age of 30 or very very late 20s when it comes to genuine threads like "that kid" or nostalgia threads.

Likw how the fuck are 20-something year olds nostalgic for youtube and PS3 and Newgrounds, all that shit is still all right there.

I'm nostalgic for woods that were turned into houses and parking lots, nostalgic for playing Pogs & marbles, having to be sitting at the TV at a certain time of day so I wouldn't miss my shows, taping music off the radio, etc.

It sure is. Obviously like most other kids I begged my mom to buy and buy and buy and buy pogs. I ended up with a giant folder full of them.

I don't know if I decided that they weren't cool anymore or I felt I was too old or whatever but I got rid of them. All that survives are two Slammers. One official and regulation-sizes pog slammer and one illegal Taiwanese pog slammer that you could get at a dollar store and was made out of solid metal that would send an entire stack of pogs flying.

We would only play those chinese knock-off pogs against each other using the THICC slammers, and use normal slammers for brand-name pogs.

We were like 8 years old back then, but we all played by the rules.


Then our faggy parents thought that it was a form of gambling (only sometimes) and they banned it in all schools forever.

The job was tolerable, but when I went back to community college, I was blown away by how degenerate the student body had become. We didn't get internet at our house until 2002 and that was the case for most kids. There were just two guys in our group of friends who had internet at home and it was the same with other social circles, usually just two kids maybe three at most who had the pleasure and privilege of having internet in the 90s.

I did go through a retro game emulation phase back in the mid-late 2000s. I played the shit out of contra and like the different pokemon generations and Zelda and everything.

There was probably more licensed shovelware games in the 80s and 90s, but when a game back then was good it was fucking great.

I remember my neighbors had an NES and I would go over there to play like 15 minutes of a Ninja Turtles game. Not the one that sucked and was incredibly hard, it was a later game and was really fun. The first level was a burning building, you fought the foot clan and these giant metal balls came bouncing down some stairs. The bosses of the firsts level was some robot motherfucker, and then bebop & rocksteady.

It may have been an arcade port.

Speaking of which, the Simpson beat em up arcade game was so good, from what I can remember.

Yes and no. It's a complex kinda feel. I was at my aunt's house, helping clean out the basement. My uncle was talking about his kids while I was just trying to get done with it. One of them started an internship recently, and is making double what I do at a job that I've worked for ten years. A fucking internship.

I've never really known this place as being positive. /a/ was pretty cool back in the day. I felt like I could relate to posters there pretty well. I don't really like the types of people that post here nowadays. /r9k/ has been my home board placeholder for a while especially threads like this.
