This world is nothing but suffering; prepare yourself for the one to come after this life. Faith in our lord Jesus Christ assures you eternal life, which means eternal happiness. So read your bible, your life depends on it!
I've been reading the bible recently. I don't understand it.
>life is shit
>somehow eternal life is amazing

Then join a church, anon. I would recommend Lutheran, but any community is good as it gives youa chance to discuss the scriptures
>>36533147
You are not alive at this current moment, you are dead, you are living in sin so you are experiencing the first death. Faith in Christ makes you born again, assuring you a spot in heaven, assuring you eternal happiness, the likes of which this world could never match.
>>36533156
why so many denominations tho?
will I go to hell for joining the wrong one?
which one is the right one?
>>36533406
Define "Right" because you are saved by grace alone, through faith alone.
>>36533511
by right, I mean the one that is functioning according to the bible.
Does it matter what denomination you join?
>>36533536
If your denomination salvation by grace alone through faith alone, you are saved. There are other things that can be debated ( the lords supper, baptism, etc) but all you need to know is that the Bible teaches salvation through faith alone. I'll post to 2 of this image for you.

*teaches salvation by grace alone, through faith alone.
>>36533406
A lot of the different denominations only have really minor differences, like whether to baptize infants or not.
>>36533687
what about the ones that have huge differences?
Do I go with protestant or catholic Christianity?
What is the right way?
>>36533739
Well Protestantism split off from Catholicism since Protestants believed that the individual should have a one on one connection with God by reading the bible themselves, rather than listening to what the Pope and establishment church told them. Protestants are basically the libertarians of Christianity kinda.
I'm biased since I'm protestant, but I would go with Protestantism, with of course reading the bible yourself and coming to your own conclusions, but with also hearing what other people think at a church.
>>36533739
That's something you're gonna have to figure out for yourself anon. God bless.
>>36533111
Kek, was going to pass over your retarded thread but this coincidence made me smile.
>>36533111
I prefer thinking for myself, thanks.
>>36533801
But which one is the correct way?
Which way does your God prefer and accept?
>>36533844
How does Christianity stop you from doing this?
>>36533851
Read the Bible and find out. You won't find the truth if you don't pursue it.
>>36533879
It requires you to believe in a magical zombie jew, despite that being fucking stupid
>>36533111
God doesn't run protection rackets. I try to resspect people's religious freedom and my family is Catholic, but something strikes me as real wrong with the "worship me or go to hell for a literal eternity" thing.
>>36533111
To be Christ-like isn't to abandon God's earth in favor of what God will do for you when you die.
Happiness isn't the only reason or driving force behind living. Reconsider the purpose behind your belief and read further into Christ.
>>36533912
Read your bible, and stop been so full of pride.
>>36533937
Jesus is the key to your salvation. I'm not saying you HAVE to do it, you have the choice of rejecting him; I'm just trying to urge you to make the right choice and accept him and love him
>>36533937
>God doesn't run protection rackets
I'm pretty sure the bible disagrees.
>oh you guys aren't living the way you want? I'm going to drown all of you.
>kill your son to prove you love me. Oh jk I wasn't serious.
God's a sociopathic mobster. You'd better worship him and do as he says or you might have an "accident". Then be damned for all eternity despite the fact that infinite reward or punishment fe a finite action is utterly fucking retarded.
I get why people push the hell angle; how else would you get people to buy your contradictory goat fucked religion?
>>36533940
I did not intend for that to be the message in my OP. I was trying to say that this world is terrible compared to what life is like with God in his kingdom. I should have gone into detail about sin, and being disconnected with God and how in heaven we are with him always, but I was too lazy.
>>36533986
A lot of Christians talk about meeting Jesus, accepting him into their hearts, and then following him. What does this actually mean?
>>36533998
The way you want to live is evil, just look what's posted on this board daily. Turn to Christ.
>>36533986
>>36533998
Yeah, like I said, I wholeheartedly can't get behind that. I'm not an atheist, I really don't see how one could be a serious one if you think things trough, at the very least the possibility of a Creator remains open no matter what and I choose to believe in a God of love. A God of love can't a petty, vengeful tyrant.
Maybe I'm just handpicking parts of the Bible and other books I agree with. Jesus was a pretty cool guy that seemed to be at odds with exactly the kind of views you preach.
>>36534046
It just means that they accept and believe with full devoutness, with all their hearts that Jesus died for them, and that they are saved through Him.
>>36534089
Read your bible.
>>36534093
what does it mean to meet Jesus?
>>36534113
But I do. My family has small Bible study sessions a few nights a week. The more you read it, the more the Gospels seem to be on a completely different tune. Also everything after the Gospels sounds like the disciples grasping at straws to push their personal agendas. Jesus himself left few core teachings and a great degree of freedom to follow them.
>>36534142
That could be their way of saying " I finally understand what the Bible teaches" or it could be that they literally saw Jesus. It's a vague statement but I would go with the former.
>>36534187
Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies, and the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit, so please don't say that they were "pushing their own agenda", because they were pushing God's agenda.
>>36533111
Anon, how do I "know" I've completely accepted Him or not.
I was baptized at birth and now reside in a Presbyterian church where I took baptism classes to be confirmed. The question being, how do I know if I truly accept Him? Everyone keeps asking me that question and I don't know the answer. My pastor had told me that it's okay to not know right now but that's all he said. I believe but I don't know what's on the grounds for "truly" believing. It makes me concerned.
I love jesus, I read the bible but i'm filled with hatred and I'm suicidal. god plz send help
>>36534313
This is beyond my theological knowledge, but I'm pretty sure if you believe on him with all your heart with no doubts in your mind, then you have faith, but I could be wrong. Sorry that I don't have a complete answer for you, anon.
>>36534316
struggling with sin is part of being human, just pray and humble yourself before Christ.
