Here's the real trick - you eat lots and lots of diet cake! It's diet so you can't gain weight from it, just like ALL diet foods! Eat to lose! I think that one thing that keeps people from exercising is the common knowledge that diet and exercise go hand in hand. A lot of people know they have shitty diets, so they feel like what is the point of strenuous exercise when they just finished consuming far more oil, fat and sugar that they should have in a day.....not to mention so many calories that 'cancel out' whatever they would have burned off? So they just enjoy eating shitty and being sedentary
I encourage my fellow bots to change your daily diet with 4 things in mind:
- Count Calories: obviously this varies based on body type and daily activity, but I would estimate eating no more than 2000 to 2500 calories a day
- Count Sugar: no more than 35 grams a day. Eat a peanut butter sandwich with lemonade that has 1/4 cup of sugar in it, for your daily sugar needs
- Drink 8 cups of water daily: straightforward
- Eat one cup of green veggies daily: straightforward
Those 4 things can do wonders. Also try eating more fiber-rich foods as well.
I've been thin most of my life without (too much) effort. I've been fat. Losing weight is hard. Staying thin is not that difficult because maintaining a constant, healthy weight is a lifestyle which you adopt.
Maybe you have an insanely slow metabolism but the vast, vast majority of fat people I've observed are simply consuming too many calories. I've seen friends, family, coworkers struggle with this.
I don't advise them in real life, because I don't want to seem like a nag, but here is what I would advise them. Keep a log of how many calories you consume daily for a few weeks. If it's significantly over 1500 calories a day you are completely fucking up (and that is the case in pretty much all fat people I have observed.)
If you are eating out as a matter of routine you are fucking up. If you are eating out daily you are practically guaranteed to be fucking up. I'm sorry, there is basically not a single establishment in the United States that serves healthy meals. They do not exist.
If you are eating packaged, processed food regularly you are almost guaranteed to be fucking up. Low calorie processed food is never filling.
When you are hungry ask yourself to eat an apple. Keep 10 apples in your fridge at all times. If you are not willing to eat an apple, you aren't hungry. You're bullshitting yourself.
In my experience diet is at least 75% of the fight. Exercise is not to be used as an excuse for eating bullshit.
Avoid stupid weight loss diets. You should have one diet which is the diet you will be on for the rest of your life. It will be sane and calorie conscious. The vast majority of your new lifelong diet will consist of unprocessed fruits and vegetables with some meat for protein. The meat will be lean. You are not going to drink soda, eat chips, or drink soda regularly.
Enjoy being thin, it is easy once you adapt. Basically you have to train yourself to stop eating as an emotional habit.

Ive actually been trying to gain weight, im 115lbs.
Its actually unbelievable how hard it is to reach the goal of 2500 calories each day.
the experience of trying to gain weight has robbed me of any sympathy I had for people trying to lose weight.

I eat maybe 1000-2000 calories per day and and exercise daily and still have fat deposits from my lower abdomen to upper thighs. My wrists and ankles are skinny af. They look almost frail. I think I have a cortisol+pituitary disorder. My lower abdomen has stretchmarks all along the beltline. Even when I played football and ran gassers and lifted weights like crazy I had a the same problem areas in spite of being other wise skinny. I bottomed out at 240. I could cut down to maybe 230 or less, but I would lose muscle mass. I like my current weight for my height. I'm tall. At least 6'7"

just putting it out there, losing weight is so much easier than maintaining the weight loss. there's probably an underlying issue for why you're eating so much (if you think it's your genes you're actually delusional and deserve to be obese forever and die). figure it out and then make small changes that you can maintain for life. all that calorie counting only helps for a few months before you give up (unsustainable) and go back to being fat again.
